The sole purpose of this RFP is to solicit proposals from non-profit organizations to provide substance use disorder services in the Monterey Peninsula. Beacon House reserves the right to withdraw this RFP at any time, at its own discretion. Submitting a response/application to this RFP does not constitute a guarantee of funding.

If no qualified applicants and/or quality applications are received during the application period, Beacon House reserves the right to not award funding and to re-open the application period at a later time. Please note: Gateway Foundation Inc. may operate services in the region in the future.

We are disclosing this with anyone applying for funding to be transparent so that organizations can make an educated decision on what/how much strategic/proprietary information they choose to disclose in their application. LOI Deadline: June 30, 2026 LOI needs to include the following: Include a brief overview of your organization (250-word count) Describe the proposed project and its impact (350-word count) Explain how the funding will be used (250-word count) Highlight your experience with SUD services (200-word count) The completed LOI must be emailed to Ave Costa at acosta@gatewayfoundation. org by 7:00 pm CST on June 30, 2026.

Those invited to apply will be notified by August 1, 2026. Upon invitation, PowerPoint Presentation is due August 30, 2026. Award notification on October 1, 2026.

Beacon House’s history was rooted in effective and efficient treatment to reduce substance use disorder (SUD) as well as the frequently co-occurring mental health problems.

Our organization was a mainstay of the substance use disorder treatment and recovery community in the Monterey Peninsula for over 60 years. Throughout our time, we helped thousands of people “start living again” through achieving recovery from drug and alcohol addiction. Although the doors of Beacon House Treatment Centers had to close, we are determined to continue giving back to the community we served.

The Beacon House Board of Directors and its parent, the Gateway Foundation, strongly believe in reinforcing and strengthening SUD services so that access to resources is increased. With a renewed focus on building capacity and expanding resources for SUD, we are making good on our promise to reinvest funds into the Monterey Peninsula.

The cornerstone of our approach is providing funding to non-profit providers through this Request for Proposal (RFP) . This funding will infuse financial resources for the operating, supporting and/or renovation of SUD services in Monterey County, directly addressing the need to improve access to treatment and recovery supports.

This vital re-investment into the Monterey County community will provide flexible grant funds to help and support local organizations. We seek to provide multiple grants to local, established substance use service providers. The flexible funds should be utilized to expand access to substance use disorder services and/or recovery support in Monterey County.

Specifically, the dollars are for one-time costs that support improving access or capacity to provide services. Organizations applying for funding must demonstrate the ability to provide evidence-based components of care, practices, and principles. Services must comply with all applicable federal and state laws, regulations, and codes.

Current licensure and accreditation is required when applicable. Applicants will need to demonstrate a history of competency in providing substance use disorder services.
