Capital Region Community Foundation | Beacon of Hope Grant Grants at the Community Foundation A Legacy of Uplifting People The Capital Region Community Foundation proudly administers the Al & Jan Granger Beacon of Hope Grant , a transformative $100,000 annual award aimed at supporting nonprofits that bring hope and dignity to those facing adversity.
Established by the Grangers in celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary, this grant is awarded in perpetuity through an endowment fund, ensuring its impact continues far beyond their lifetimes. A Vision for Hope and Practical Solutions The Beacon of Hope Grant was created to uplift organizations that provide tangible, practical solutions to restore the lives of people in need.
From providing housing and resources to survivors of human trafficking to services that help struggling families, the grant seeks to empower nonprofits that embody the Grangers' values of compassion, resilience, and generosity.
Ensuring a Lasting Impact Through the establishment of the Beacon of Hope endowment fund, the Grangers have ensured that this $100,000 grant will be awarded each year to one deserving nonprofit organization in the Greater Lansing area. The Robotics Grant Program is a grant from the Alabama State Department of Education (ALSDE) that funds school-based robotics programs for elementary, middle, and high school students. Awarded through a competitive application process, the program provides up to $3,500 to eligible local education agencies (LEAs) in Alabama. Applicants must be public school systems submitting on behalf of schools with K–12 students. The grant supports the purchase of robotics equipment and program development aligned with AMSTI guidelines. Applications are submitted online through the AMSTI Robotics Grant portal. The Fiscal Year 2026 application deadline was September 30, 2025. Questions should be directed to robotics@amsti.org.
