— The New York Beef Council (NYBC) is now accepting applications for its annual Beef Promotion Micro Grant Program , offering funding to support locally led beef promotion, education, and outreach efforts across New York State. Each year, the NYBC Board of Directors allocates a portion of its budget to invest in projects that strengthen consumer awareness of beef and highlight the work of New York’s beef producers.
These grants are designed to support creative, community-based initiatives that connect consumers with beef in meaningful, engaging ways. Grant applications are reviewed on a rolling basis throughout the year, with proposals considered at NYBC Board meetings. Eligible projects may include educational programming, producer-led events, county fair exhibits, farm days, and other activities that promote beef and the people who raise it.
NYBC’s Beef Promotion Grant Program delivers measurable value at the local level. In just three funded events last year, producer Checkoff dollars supported programming that reached more than 429,000 consumers across New York State through a combination of regional media, on-site education, and direct producer-to-consumer engagement.
One funded initiative extended beef promotion across Northern New York and the 1000 Islands region , generating a projected 236,900 consumer impressions through digital advertising, Extension and university platforms, newspapers, and visibility at the Lewis County Fair.
Another event focused on direct engagement, connecting 24 beef producers with the public and generating more than 32,000 consumer touchpoints , including hundreds of one-on-one conversations, educational interactions, and video engagements.
At Beef Day 2025 during the Washington County Fair, NYBC grant support helped reach an estimated 25,000 consumers in a single day , with beef messaging visible to more than 135,000 fairgoers throughout the week . Approximately 30 farm families participated directly, creating meaningful opportunities for fairgoers to connect with the people behind their food.
Together, these events demonstrate how grant funding empowers producers and educators to deliver beef’s story in their own communities—extending NYBC’s reach and reinforcing consumer trust in beef raised in New York. “Our goal is to support the people closest to the consumer,” said Ashley Scoones, Executive Director of the New York Beef Council .
“These grants help empower beef producers and educators to showcase the quality and value of beef while creating authentic connections that drive demand at the local level. ” Beef producers, agricultural educators, and industry advocates interested in promoting New York’s beef industry are encouraged to apply.
