gov Grants. gov contact center: Self-service knowledge base System for award management (SAM): The Behavioral Health Mobile Crisis Team Partnerships (Short Title: MCTP) program offers funding to establish new, or enhance existing, mobile crisis teams that serve children, youth, and adults experiencing mental health or substance use disorder crises.

MCTP focuses on the expansion of behavioral health crisis response capacity and the development of structured partnerships that reduce reliance on law enforcement and emergency departments for behavioral health crises.

Mobile crisis teams should: Be available to respond to individuals in mental health and substance use disorder crises and provide immediate stabilization, referrals to community-based mental health and substance use disorder services and supports, and triage to a higher level of care if Include licensed counselors, clinical social workers, physicians, nurses, paramedics, crisis workers, peer support specialists, any other qualified individuals Provide support to divert mental health and substance use disorder crisis calls from the 911 system to the behavioral health crisis system Detailed lists of required and other allowable activities application instructions .

With this program, SAMHSA intends to divert individuals in crisis from criminal justice involvement and hospital emergency departments, to reduce deaths from suicide and overdose, and to address the specific needs of the communities to be served such as children and families, veterans, rural populations, and individuals with limited access to crisis services.
