BFG Outstanding Trails - Tread Lightly! Presented by Tread Lightly! BFGOODRICH® Tires Outstanding Trails Program Tread Lightly!
recognizes that one of the best ways to promote responsible outdoor recreation is to support enthusiasts in the stewardship of their favorite trails. With the help of licensing agreements from one of Tread Lightly! ’s top partners, the BFGoodrich® Tires Outstanding Trails grants are designed to help individuals and groups organize clean-ups, trail maintenance work days and other small stewardship projects.
The average grant is under $500. Those funds can be used for many things, including purchasing equipment, trash bags, and tools. Tread Lightly!
’s BFGoodrich® Tires Outstanding Trails grants support enthusiasts in caring for their favorite trails by funding cleanups, maintenance days, and small stewardship projects. Clubs, select individuals, and motorized recreation organizations that are active members of Tread Lightly! are eligible to apply.

The average grant given is under $500. 00. All grant recipients awarded amounts above $600 will be issued a 1099 for tax purposes, and may affect tax filing.
When is the submission deadline? Grant applications and supporting material can be submitted starting 5/1/2025 and will be accepted through 11/30/2025 for review and evaluation. Approved projects within this time period are contingent on remaining available funds at the time of submission.
Stewardship can take on many forms. With that in mind, we have a fairly broad scope as to what are acceptable expenses. Listed here are items that we can cover as part of the award grant.
