Women's Health Grant Opportunities ## Supporting positive birth outcomes In an effort to increase positive birth outcomes, Prisma Health and TD Bank have partnered together on the **Black Doula Project** – a program designed to provide doula support services to eligible Black women in our communities.

A doula is a **trained professional** who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support to clients before, during and shortly after childbirth to help them achieve the healthiest, most satisfying experience possible. What to look for when hiring a doula Here are a few key points for parents to consider: * **Training and experience. ** Has this person received proper doula education, training and certification?

* **Availability. ** How many clients does the doula currently have? * **Services offered.

** If you have a specific support need, make sure it is offered by the doula you select. * **Compatibility. ** Are you comfortable with this person in your personal space?

* **Fees. ** Your grant will cover up to $1,000 in services. Application criteria for doula funding In order to qualify for this funding, you must identify as a Black, African or African American birthing person, must plan to deliver at a Prisma Health hospital, and your identified doula must have doula certification.

If you identify as African American, African or Black and will be delivering at a Prisma Health birth facility, you may be eligible to receive doula funding. We are currently accepting grant applications. If awarded, you will have the ability to select the certified doula of your choice and Prisma Health will cover fees up to $1,000.

## Interested in being a doula? We are now helping fund community members who want to become doula-trained or -certified. This new initiative reflects our belief that the people who understand our communities best should be the ones supporting them.

By removing financial barriers to training, we’re opening the door for more birth workers to step into their calling and continue the legacy of community-centered care. We can’t wait to welcome more doulas into this work and grow a network rooted in love, culture, and healing.
