This mission supports projects focused on fostering connections between finance and grant-making to support knowledge generation, enhance impact investments, monitor the international startup ecosystem, and promote productive use of research results from labs.

We collaborate with institutions, communities and people to create value and address major challenges for the future of the catchment area and the next generations, through actions with high social, environmental and economic impact .

We support research , knowledge and training so that the best talents and ideas consolidate and become a driving force for development. We facilitate the spread of a culture of innovation to promote the progress and revitalisation of the catchment area linked with the technological transition. On the health front, we foster processes of systemic change in healthcare and adopt a circular approach to well-being .

We develop solutions designed to restore balance between human beings and the environment , combat inequalities and ensure prosperity for everyone. We promote internationalisation as a tool to offer local bodies and institutions the opportunity to involve themselves in the most relevant issues in the global debate, including through mentoring on international opportunities.

This is our commitment to helping achieve national and international sustainable development goals.. The welfare of people and the Planet is at the heart of the debate on sustainable development and is a vital challenge that we need to overcome together by investing effort, skills and technology to achieve the Sustainable Development Goals set down in the United Nations Agenda 2030 .

The lessons learned on the SDGs update our action and push us towards the interdisciplinary approach that is crucial to addressing global challenges. At the European level and beyond , we are developing climate action and climate resilience plans that are also designed to be socially and economically sustainable, as recommended in the Draghi report.

Innovation is a central and cross-cutting element that promotes venture building initiatives, fosters international openness and attracts new talent. Our planning is based on an analysis of the initiatives spawned by the PNRR (Italy’s national recovery and resilience plan) so as to identify possible problems with support for projects when PNRR funding comes to an end, and plan possible interventions.

This is also prompting us to update our action in technology transfer, with a view to ensuring the continuity of contact initiatives between universities and businesses. The Planet Goal implements the Foundation’s strategy by updating its action through an a ctive relationship with institutions and partners , to harness synergies and opportunities and meet needs in the various areas of intervention represented by the Missions .

In line with FCSP’s Multi-Year Planning Document 2025-2028 , the Planet Goal promotes initiatives aimed at sharing the results of scientific research , by introducing a strong cross-cutting culture of innovation and data exploitation into each of the five Missions.

Our actions focus on health and well-being , with transformational interventions such as the adoption of advanced healthcare technologies and the incentivisation of healthy lifestyles, as part of a concept of circular health that transcends the biomedical dimension and links people’s health with the health of the environment.

We are committed to working as a hub to improve collaboration between all the actors in the research system , thereby strengthening talent-matching between professionals, start-ups and SMEs in the catchment area. Global challenges make it necessary to integrate the green transition with the digital transition, while maintaining a focus on social justice and the resilience of the socio-economic system.

In this respect, the social economy is ideal for innovative experiments that can be scaled up. It also supports the development of networks and forms of coordination between social enterprises and fosters the development of digital and business skills.

The Planet Goal helps FCSP make the most productive use of its assets , in line with the key principles , thematic priorities and cross-cutting methodologies set out in the Multi-Year Planning Document 2025-2028 . Trust is the cornerstone of our support for the health system and collaboration with the university system.

Trust is complemented by flexibility in the social economy, guiding us towards openness to new international opportunities. Flexibility is linked with risk , however, when we take action in the research system and innovation processes, where acceptance of risk is associated with reaping potential benefits. Cross-cutting methodologies The ability to mobilise additional resources cuts across all the Missions.

Furthermore, we aim to encourage initiatives that make grants a useful tool for helping partner bodies use bank loans more effectively and consciously. Accelerating the technological transition has prompted us to promote pilot initiatives designed to foster systemic changes , some of which draw inspiration from the analysis of non-EU good practices.

In relation to critical issues, such as antibiotic resistance and eco-anxiety, we promote advocacy-oriented projects to facilitate the spread of knowledge and awareness. All our actions are open to international benchmarking, including on the basis of partnerships aimed at promoting the innovative business and research ecosystem to international investors.

Research and innovation both play an important role in boosting local development . We aim to nurture an innovation ecosystem in North-West Italy that attracts and retains talent, facilitates technology transfer, strengthens the university system and enhances incubation and acceleration platforms. We support the third sector in proposal engineering and the development of new business-oriented skills.

To help reduce inequalities , we support the health system with interventions focused on upgrading large items of equipment and extending uptake of remote health monitoring tools. We take a systemic approach to sport and well-being, in line with the principle of circular health, with a firm emphasis on the preventive and clinical importance of physical activity.

We promote initiatives that boost the resilience of local areas, to reduce the effects that climate change can have on inequalities between communities. We promote systemic interventions in relation to the social economy, the health system, sports associations and the environment.

Social economy training courses, as well as structural interventions in the health system and support for sport and environmental associations, offer specific focal points that make it easier to respond to needs more effectively as they arise. The areas best suited to the development of medium-to-large impact projects are health, innovation and research.

Examples include support for the process of recognising new in-patient treatment facilities with a scientific research role (IRCCS) within the region, projects to attract resources and talent to the catchment area, and projects designed to provide blended finance instruments to support the social economy ecosystem in collaboration with the banking system.

The Planet Goal is divided into five missions, which work in synergy and share tools and projects, to guide our activity towards sustainable development on a daily basis. We support local training initiatives, advanced studies, people engaged in research and the knowledge acquired from these activities, so that the best ideas consolidate, thanks to advanced technology transfer, and become a driving force behind local development.

We contribute to strengthening the training system and the competitiveness of the research system in relation to national and international opportunities. We contribute to the dynamism of the innovation ecosystem in order to create a favourable environment for generating progress and relaunching local development.

We create opportunities for upskilling and we facilitate the spread of a culture of innovation to achieve progress in the safe and sustainable technological transition. the Catchment Area Sustainably We facilitate processes of systemic change in the health system, including by encouraging a rapid digital transition geared towards the efficiency, sustainability and accessibility of services.

We adopt a circular approach to health that takes account of the link between people and their environment and we promote physical activity with nutrition, as interconnected tools of prevention capable of enhancing well-being.

We support transformational actions and practical projects to accelerate the transition to a society that reduces its environmental impact at every level and protects its natural capital, to guarantee a prosperous, healthy future for current and future generations. We work with institutions, communities and individuals to develop solutions that address the ecological crisis fairly and effectively.

With the support of science and collective collaboration, it is possible to restore a balance between human beings and the environment, thereby ensuring well-being and prosperity for everyone.
