Efficient & Resilient Public Buildings Grant Program Applications will be scored competitively and open until September 30, 2026. Section 319(h) Grant Program Applications will be accepted through 1:00 p. m.
CDT on September 16, 2026 Residential Sharps Collection Program Applications will be accepted until funding is expended or March 31, 2027. 2 CFR 200 Uniform Administrative Requirements, Cost Principles and Audit Requirements for Federal Awards The Illinois EPA provides financial assistance for certain air, land, water, and energy related projects.
Those programs include: Driving a Cleaner Illinois - Driving a Cleaner Illinois is the Illinois EPA’s grant program developed to distribute funding for various types of diesel emission reduction projects involving on-road vehicles, off-road equipment, and electric charging.
The Driving a Cleaner Illinois Program receives funding from a variety of sources, including the Volkswagen Environmental Mitigation Trust, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s Diesel Emission Reduction Act (DERA) Program, and Federal Highway Administration’s Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement (CMAQ) Program. Brownfields Financial Help – Illinois EPA offers financial help for brownfield site investigations and cleanups.
Residential Sharps Collection Program - The Illinois EPA provides funding to units of local government that operate a sharps collection station, as defined in Section 3. 158 of the Illinois Environmental Protection Act, for expenses incurred in collection, storing, and disposing of used sharps.
Underground Storage Tank Fund –The Illinois EPA provides assistance to tank owners and operators to help pay for cleaning up leaks from petroleum underground storage tanks.
Wastewater/Stormwater and Drinking Water Loans – The Illinois EPA provides low interest loans through the State Revolving Fund (SRF), which includes two loan programs: Wastewater/Stormwater Loans - The Water Pollution Control Loan Program for wastewater and stormwater projects; and Drinking Water Loans - The Public Water Supply Loan Program for drinking water projects.
Lead Service Line Replacement (LSLR) Loans - A new administrative rule, 35 Illinois Administrative Code Part 663 , was adopted which will govern the procedures for issuing loans for Lead Service Line Replacement activities from the Public Water Supply Loan Program (PWSLP).
Lead Service Line Inventory Grants - The Illinois EPA offers a grant program to assist communities in meeting the inventory requirements outlined in the Lead Service Line Replacement and Notification Act (LSLRNA).
Emerging Contaminants in Small or Disadvantaged Communities (EC-SDC) Grants - The Illinois EPA will use funds awarded from US EPA to assist small or disadvantaged communities in the State of Illinois where emerging contaminants have become a problem or appear likely to become a problem in the near term.
Unsewered Communities Grants - The Illinois EPA offers two grant programs to assist communities with inadequate or nonexistent wastewater collection and treatment facilities. Water Quality Grants – The Illinois EPA manages several programs that offer grants to help implement local water projects.
The Efficient & Resilient Public Buildings Grant Program offers financial support to improve energy efficiency and resilience in local government buildings. Eligible facilities must be owned by a city, county, or other unit of local government and used to provide public services.
Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Program - Assists Illinois communities that do not receive a HUD direct entitlement allocation with meeting their greatest economic and community development needs.
Illinois Finance Authority Energy Efficiency Revolving Loan Fund (EE RLF) - Provides flexible financing solutions to support energy efficiency and clean energy projects in Illinois. The program offers Bridge Loans to cover gaps between project completion and disbursement of federal or state incentives and Co-Lending/Participation Loads to support longer-term project financing.
