Various groups have sought to preserve wildlife and their habitats in Wyoming, with the primary focus being game species. However, retired Game & Fish habitat biologist, Gary Butler, believed there needed to be a way to uplift our nongame species as well in order to have a thriving ecological environment in Wyoming. In 2017, Gary and his wife Jo, established a fund benefiting the 554 nongame wildlife species across the state.
The Butlers lead gift to this fund inspired many other donors to support this cause, and its thanks to the generosity of many wildlife supporters that this Fund can provide grants today and into the future.
