Cal-HBCU Transfer Grant Program Score Financial Aid to Help You Transfer to Your Dream HBCU Unlock Up to $5,000 with the Cal-HBCU Transfer Grant Are you a student transferring from a California Community College to an HBCU? The Cal-HBCU Transfer Grant gives you up to $5,000 to help make your transition smoother and more affordable.
Don’t miss this chance to support your journey to one of our partnered Historically Black Colleges and Universities! Eligible students must meet the following criteria to qualify for the Cal-HBCU Transfer Grant: You must be a California community college student who has earned an Associate’s Degree for Transfer (ADT) . Enroll (or plan to enroll) at an eligible HBCU .

There's more financial aid oppportunities available too Most U.S. citizens qualify for financial aid with the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). The California Dream Act (CADAA) paves the way for undocumented students to get financial assistance to achieve their dreams. Federal Pell Grants go to undergraduate students without college degrees who come from low-income families.
Eligible undergraduate, high school, and transfer students can apply for a Cal Grant. You can automatically apply for different Award Amounts by filling out a FAFSA or CADAA. Low-income students and students receiving cash assistance may automatically apply for a California College Promise Grant (CCPG).
How do I apply to an HBCU? First, it's best to research the HBCUs the California Community Colleges are partnered with to identify the college with the best fit. Our HBCU Transfer Opportunities program guarantees admission to more than 30 Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), allowing students to complete their undergraduate degree journey.
Next, meet with your counselor at your local community college to review your transcript to make sure the minimum transfer qualifications are met: 2. 0 GPA (higher at some institutions) 30+ transferable units or an Associate Degree for Transfer (ADT). Your counselor can also give you a promo code allowing you to apply to up to four HBCUs free on the Common Black College Application .
For HBCUs not included on the Common Black College Application, go directly to that school’s website to apply. Once you apply, submit official transcripts for ALL colleges/universities attended. Be sure to attend one of the California Community Colleges' “How to Apply” webinars or work with one of our team members to assist you throughout the process.

Upon acceptance to the HBCU, students must apply directly to the nursing program. Each nursing program has its own admission criteria. Researching this in advance is highly recommended.
