Call for applications to support high-potential European start-ups developing innovative solutions in biotech, medtech, digital health, AI, and biomarkers or diagnostics - EU Funding Call for proposals to support high-potential European micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) developing innovative healthcare solutions.
The initiative targets companies working in biotech, medtech, digital health, AI, and biomarkers or diagnostics to help them advance product development, refine commercialisation strategies, and prepare for subsequent fundraising rounds while addressing unmet clinical needs across Europe. Individual grants range between EUR 300,000 and EUR 500,000 for projects lasting up to 12 months, with a set start date of January 1, 2027.
To qualify for funding, applying companies must employ at least four full-time equivalent workers and have closed a minimum total equity investment of EUR 2,000,000 within the previous 36 months, which must include participation from at least one new investor.
Furthermore, applicants must meet specific Innovation Maturity Levels (IML) tailored to their respective sector: Biotech: Must be at IML 5 or higher, representing the safety and toxicity study stage; Medtech: Must be at IML 6 or higher, requiring an initial clinical proof of concept; Digital Health and AI: Must be at IML 7 or higher, signifying the market validation phase; Biomarkers and Diagnostics: Must be at IML 7 or higher, also requiring market validation.
