Call to Service Grants - Civic & Community Engagement Support | Institute for Civic and Community Engagement (ICCE) Call to Service Grants - Civic & Community Engagement Support Call to Service grants support SF State faculty and staff in developing service-learning, community-based, and civic engagement opportunities that foster meaningful student learning and advance community-identified goals.

Service Learning Course Development Grant Eisman Award for Engaged Scholarship Civic & Community Engagement Support Grant ➔ Civic & Community Engagement Support Grant The Community & Civic Engagement (CCE) Support Grant provides small-scale funding to strengthen civic and community engagement at SFSU.

Grants support projects, on campus or in the community, that enhance student learning, civic participation, and collaboration aligned with the university’s commitment to meaningful engagement and the public good. The CCE Support Grant assists SFSU faculty, staff, and departments/programs in developing or implementing projects that foster civic learning, community connection, and public service.

Projects may include on-campus initiatives, such as nonpartisan voter education or civic leadership events, as well as off-campus collaborations with community partners. Funds may be used to support activities such as student assistants, travel or conference participation, materials, and modest hospitality that advance civic or community engagement.

For full details on allowable and non-allowable costs, please refer to the “Use of Funds” section. Projects must demonstrate clear student and/or community benefit and align with SFSU’s educational mission. Awards range from $500–$2,500, depending on project scope and available funds.

Funds may support student wages, materials, modest hospitality, or other project-related expenses. Refer to the “Use of Funds” section for full guidance. Open to SF State faculty, staff, and departments/programs.

Projects may occur on campus or off campus. A short end-of-project summary Provide one photo or artifact demonstrating project impact Submit a short student or partner vignette highlighting the project experience or impact Applications will be reviewed based on: Purpose & Alignment – Project clearly supports civic or community engagement and aligns with SFSU’s goals for student learning and public benefit.

Student Involvement – Students are meaningfully involved in or benefit from the project. Feasibility & Implementation – Project plan, timeline, and budget are realistic and achievable; proposed use of funds is appropriate. Impact & Outcomes – Anticipated outcomes are clear and demonstrate meaningful benefit to campus and the community.

Sustainability or Replicability – Project shows potential to be sustained, expanded, or inform future engagement efforts. Provide the title of your project or activity. 2.

Project Summary (100–150 words) Provide a concise overview of your project or activity. 3. Project Description (up to 400 words) Describe your project, goals, and anticipated outcomes.

Explain how it promotes civic or community engagement. 4. Location of Engagement Indicate whether your project takes place on campus, off campus, or both.

5. Community or Campus Partners Identify any collaborators involved in your project (student groups, departments, or external partners). Describe how students will participate in or benefit from this project.

If student involvement is limited, explain why. 7. Requested Funding Amount Select the amount requested and briefly justify how funds will support your project.

Provide a short breakdown of how funds will be used (e.g., student wages, materials, hospitality, or event expenses). Outline key steps and expected completion date. 10.

Sustainability or Replicability (up to 250 words) Describe how your project could be sustained, expanded, or serve as a model for future civic or community engagement initiatives. Are there plans to continue or adapt this work beyond the grant period (e.g., through departmental support, partnerships, or integration into ongoing programs)? 11.

Application Opens August 1, 2026 Civic and Community Engagement Support Grant Before you apply, confirm the following: Your project focuses on civic or community engagement activities Your proposal supports partnership development, capacity building, or implementation You have identified or are in the process of confirming a community partner, if applicable Your project aligns with community-identified needs or priorities You have reviewed the grant guidelines and allowable use of funds Funding for these grants is provided by the CSU Chancellor’s Office and is contingent upon final allocation and continued support.

While funding is anticipated, awards are not guaranteed. ICCE reserves the right to modify or cancel this opportunity if funding is not received.
