Community Relations | Cambridge Savings Bank FDIC-Insured - Backed by the full faith and credit of the U.S. Government Our community ties run deep. When we started over 190 years ago, our goal was to provide a safe place for our neighbors to keep their money. And while that’s still fundamentally what we do, today we have a much more personal focus.
Our mission is simple, to improve and to enrich the lives of our under resourced neighbors that our bank serves in the counties: Middlesex, Suffolk, Essex, and Norfolk Our goal is to treat every customer like our only customer. ® We also focus our attention on what’s important to you, by supporting the nonprofit and community programs that help enrich our communities and make living here so enjoyable.
At Cambridge Savings Bank, every employee is given 16 hours of paid time off each year to volunteer at an established nonprofit organization. Since 2019, our employees have averaged over 5,700 volunteer hours per year. Since 2003, Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation has awarded over $20 million in grants.
We established the Cambridge Savings Charitable Foundation to enrich the lives of our neighbors. The Foundation is a non-profit charitable foundation organized to support affordable housing, shelters, and transitional housing, and food insecurity. We live and work in the community; we’re a part of it.
We believe that comes with a greater responsibility to give back to those around us.

GAO-26-108615, released August 6, 2026, examined the $110 billion in savings DOGE claimed as of July 7, 2026. For grants, DOGE did not supply enough information to verify the calculation method behind 96 percent of reported savings. One $1.7 billion contract was never terminated at all. Here is what the report actually found and what terminated grantees should do with it.
Read articleThe Cold Chain Grants for Emergency Food Assistance Program closes October 1, 2026, funding cold storage equipment at up to $200,000 per project with a 10% cash match. But USDA is not awarding to food banks — it is awarding to nonprofit intermediaries who will run competitive subaward programs. Two audiences, two entirely different jobs, and one of them has 43 days.
Read articleOn June 29, 2026, EPA announced it will waive the $25,000 WIFIA application fee and the credit processing fee — averaging roughly $156,000 per loan — for communities of 25,000 or fewer residents in fiscal years 2026 and 2027. Combined, that removes nearly $200,000 in upfront cost from the single most affordable federal water-infrastructure financing program, which carries roughly $11 billion in available capacity and can cover up to 80% of eligible project costs at Treasury-rate pricing. For small towns, rural utilities, and the nonprofits and districts that serve them, this is a rare instance of the federal government lowering the barrier to a program that has historically been out of reach for exactly the communities that need it most. Here is what changed, who qualifies, and how to move on a letter of interest before the window closes.
