The Canadian Consumer Protection Initiative was established by Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada's Office of Consumer Affairs to support the consumer advocacy work of Canadian non profit organizations. The Initiative enables organizations to produce independent research on consumer issues and funds the creation of resources to help consumers make informed decisions in the marketplace.
It also aims to strengthen capacity building for consumer organizations to help fulfil their mandates, increase their visibility, membership and self-sufficiency in the interest of Canadian consumers. For detailed information on the program's assessment criteria for the 2025-27 period, please consult the Applicant's Guide .
Eligible applicants must be incorporated (federally or provincially) as a not-for-profit organization or association in Canada and/or: Not-for-profit social enterprises or co-operatives Consortia of non-profit organizations Post-secondary academic institutions or research institutes Download the Application Form and complete as instructed in the Applicant's Guide , attach all mandatory additional documentation and click 'Apply now' when finished to submit.
