Changemakers Project is sponsored by MTN Foundation. Partnership with individuals and organizations to bring community dreams to life in Uganda, focusing on initiatives that boost economic growth and improve quality of life.

Changemakers - MTN Uganda The Changemakers project, spearheaded by the MTN Foundation under the MTN @25 initiative, aims to partner with individuals and organisations to bring community dreams to life in Uganda. Inspired by everyday Ugandans making a positive impact on their communities.

The project intends to inspire hope and drive positive change in local communities by supporting initiatives that boost economic growth and improve the quality of people’s lives. Through this collaborative effort, the Changemakers project seeks to enable and empower changemakers to continue their impactful work, contributing to a positive and sustainable transformation within Uganda.

Projects will be supported with in-kind donations, this means that No Cash donations will be made. Principles to apply to changemakers program. The following good practice principles should be applied where possible: Fall within the MTN Foundation’s Focus areas of Economic empowerment, Education and Health.

A focus on initiatives that are sustainable or have a lasting impact. The intervention should address a community or societal need. Ability to implement positive, direct change in the lives of beneficiaries.

A focus on effective stakeholder engagement Hands on involvement by local leadership at the highest levels. MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Central Kampala – Kampala District Applications received – 263 Requested total investment (Ugx 100 m) The Changemakers project, spearheaded by the MTN Foundation under the MTN @25 initiative,aims to partner with individuals and organisations to ### MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Central Project host community: Inner Wheel Project, Luzira Female Prison Project Name: Eco Empower Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Scale-up services The project aims to produce reusable sanitary pads for female inmates at Luzira Prison.

This will not only provide reusable sanitary pads but also offer the opportunity to train inmates in tailoring and pad production to support inmates in other prisons across Uganda. Purpose of funds: Purchase of sewing machines and materials for reusable pads production Sustainability of the project: The Uganda Prison Services will maintain and provide additional materials and training.

Additional Value: Promotes the health and skills of the female inmates at Luzira Prison. Project host community: Cathy Devine Apparels, Mutungo Project Name: Youth and Women Skilling Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project Changemaker: Catherine Kaliba The project aims to expand Cathy Devine Apparel with Equipment to enable them to train a larger number of vulnerable women and girls.

These skills will enable them to generate income and be employable within and outside of Devine Apparels to boost their livelihood. Purpose of funds: Purchase of training equipment. Sustainability of the project: The project focused on producing easily marketable materials that can generate income for future growth and sustainability Additional Value: Promotes the health and skills of the female inmates at Luzira Prison.

Project host community: Read to Learn Foundation, Muyenga. Project Name: Promoting literacy development in the community & schools Project reach: 14 schools Foundation thematic area: Education Project state: . Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Mutesi Hellen Read to Learn boosts education standards for learners through the creation of Inclusive educational content that is not always available in most inclusive schools.

The ask is for Equipment (tablets), braille materials for teacher training support, and offline materials like books, which are necessary for learning.

Purpose of funds: Purchase of tablets, braille, books and projectors Sustainability of the project: The foundation has a for-profit wing that will generate money for continuation of interventions Additional Value: Provide learning materials and teacher training for the included schools Project host community: Uganda Cancer Society, Mulago.

Project Name: Wheelchairs Foundation thematic area: Health Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Specious Asiimwe The cancer care home in Mulago accommodates 400 patients, not including their caretakers, and is located about 2 km from the cancer treatment center within Mulago Hospital.

Patients must travel to and from the treatment center 2–3 times a day, depending on their appointments, yet many are too weak to walk. This creates a need for wheelchairs so that caretakers can easily transport them to the treatment center.

Purpose of funds: Purchase of additional wheelchairs for the cancer patients Sustainability of the project: The Uganda Cancer Society will continue to source additional fundings to repair and add more wheelchairs.

Additional Value: Improve access to health care MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Greater Central Greater Central comprises– Mukono, Masaka, Wakiso, Mpigi, Buikwe, Buvuma, Nakasongola, Luweero, Mityana, Rakai, Butambala, Nakaseke, Gomba, Kanoni, Kayunga, Mpigi, Kalangala, Kyankwanzi and Mubende Districts Applications received – 520 Requested total investment (Ugx 100 m) MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Greater Central Project host community: Jovial Foundation, Entebbe Project Name: Vocational Skills in Tailoring Foundation thematic area: Vocational Skills in Tailoring Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Jovia Namaara Jovial Foundation aims to support community members in Bugonga fishing village with employable vocational skills in tailoring.

Purpose of funds: Purchase of sewing machines for the training of the girls and teenage mothers in fashion and design. Sustainability of the project: The trainees will contribute to purchasing the materials, while the foundation will source additional funding to run the projects. Additional Value: Vocational skills in tailoring as an addition to fish mongering.

Project host community: Adventist Women Center of Influence, Migera (Nakasongola) Project Name: Provision of tailoring machines Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: George Sekaggo /Margaret Katongole The project is part of the Seventh Day Adventist Church, which focuses on skilling women, especially the sex workers at Migera and other community members in vocational skills of tailoring, welding and metal fabrication, brick laying, and supports with educating the children of those who attend the skills training and other community members.

Purpose of funds: Purchase of additional sewing machines to support the number of trainees.. Sustainability of the project: The proceeds from other community members will support the repair and buying of other materials Additional Value: Providing an alternative income generation pathway for the sex workers.

Project host community: Determined Youth Foundation, Mpigi Project Name: Vocational Training in Bakery Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Kyobutungi Daphine Purpose of funds: Purchase of mixtures and electric ovens for the bakery training. Sustainability of the project: The proceeds from the sale of products and trainees’ contributions will sustain the project.

Additional Value: Improved skills and economic stability of the trainees. Project host community: Kiyunga Pri Sch, Mukono Project Name: Provision of Water tanks Foundation thematic area: Wash Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Kalibbala Yusuf Being a Muslim community and a school, Kiyunga requires a lot of water for ablution, sanitation, and personal hygiene.

Donating the water tanks at the school will provide a continuous water supply to the school community. Purpose of funds: Purchase and installation of rainwater harvesting tanks. Sustainability of the project: The school will take over management of the water harvesting tanks using PTA and government grants.

Additional Value: Provision of safe water Project host community: Nyenje Voice Saving Association, Mukono Project Name: Vocational Training Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Barry Sherifa Peace Nyenje Voice Saving Association is supporting the community through different skills training, such as hair dressing, welding, poultry keeping, and baking.

Purpose of funds: Purchase of baking equipment such as electric mixers, stainless steel working tables. Sustainability of the project: The association members will contribute to the cost of maintaining the machines also from the sales of confectionaries. Additional Value: Provision of quality training materials to boost learning and earnings.

MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Western Western comprises – Buhweju, Buliisa, Bundibugyo, Bunyangabu, Bushenyi, Hoima, Ibanda, Isingiro, Kabale, Kabarole, Kagadi, Kabarole, Kabaale, Kakumiro, Kamwenge, Kanungu, Kasese, Kazo, Kibaale, Kikuube, Kiruhura, Kiryandongo, Kisoro, Kitagwenda, Kyegegwa, Kyenjojo, Masindi, Mbarara, Mitooma, Ntoroko, Ntungamo, Rubanda, Ruburizi, Rukiga, Rukungiri, Rwampara, and Sheema Districts Applications received – 386 Requested total investment (Ugx 100m) MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Western Project host community: Mubuku Valley Secondary School, Kasese.

Project Name: Provision of safe water harvesting system Foundation thematic area: WASH/Water Project state: Non-functional water tank Changemaker: Sr. Letiticia Kyomuhangi The project seeks to support the school with enhanced access to clean, safe water through the establishment of a modern water harvesting and storage facility. The school received 4 10,000L water tanks. Purpose of funds: Purchase and set up of water harvesting system.

Sustainability of the project: The project will be sustained through the school’s estate management fund. A teacher (Mr. Alex Ngabirano will be directly responsible for oversight). Additional Value: Access to clean, safe water for students and the surrounding community members.

Project host community: Kinyamaseke TC, Kasese district. Project Name: Usanii Village Africa Project reach: 100 per cohort Thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project for expansion. Changemaker: Arinaitwe Bwambale Benard The project aims to empower vulnerable girls and youth with vocational skills for self-reliance.

They have currently trained 33 girls and 8 boys. The target is to train at least 200 annually in 2 Cohorts but is constrained by the lack of equipment. The org currently has some equipment but lacks key modern training equipment.

Existing equipment is inadequate to match the existing numbers. Purpose of funds: Procurement of equipment and training materials. Sustainability of the project: Trainees will contribute financially towards the procurement of additional materials.

They also plan to form groups that will benefit from govt programs like PDM. Additional Value: Provide self-employment opportunities for vulnerable girls.

MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Northern Northern comprises –Abim, Adjumani, Agago, Alebtong, Amolatar, Amudat, Amuru, Apac, Arua, Dokolo, Gulu, Kaabong, Karenga, Kitgum, Koboko, Kole, Kotido, Kwania, Lamwo, Lira, Madi Okollo, Maracha, Moroto, Moyo, Nabilatuk, Nakapiripirit, Napak, Nebbi, Nwoya, Obongi, Omoro, Oyuke, Oyam, Pader, Pakwach, Yumbe and Zombo Districts Applications received – 296 Requested total investment (Ugx 100 m) MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries North Project host community: Lolachat Seed SS, Nabilatuk Project Name: Provision of school furniture Project reach: 499 (248m, 251f) Foundation thematic area: Education Project state: New Project Changemaker: Nakuru Gyaviira Lolachat Seed Secondary School is a government aided school focusing on enhancing learning through provision of furniture for classes and the library.

They requested for desks to ensure that learners comfortably sit and concentrate in class and bookshelves for storage of reading materials in the library. Purpose of funds: Purchase of desks and bookshelves for the library. Sustainability of the project: The school will save some money to repair the furniture and purchase more Additional Value: IImprove attendance and concentrations in class..

Project host community: Kara Girls Initiatives, Kotido Project Name: Elevate Karamoja Project Foundation thematic area: Education Project state: New Project Changemaker: Natyang Anastashia The “Elevate Karamoja” project focuses on empowering the girl child in the region to stay in school and complete the school cycle by promoting education and particularly menstrual health hygiene for the girl child.

Purpose of funds: Materials and sewing machines for making reusable pads Sustainability of the project: he organization will fund the repair of the machines and continue to purchase additional materials for making the reusable pads to scale the reach. Additional Value: Improve menstrual health hygiene and reduce school dropout.

Project host community: Abongodyang Pri Sch, Alebtong Project Name: Boreholes / Water tank Project reach: Learners 1623 (814m, 809f) Foundation thematic area: Wash Project state: New Project This project seeks to replace the broken-down borehole at the school or establish water harvesting tanks to provide safe water for the learners and teachers.

Purpose of funds: Drilling a borehole or constructing water harvesting tanks Sustainability of the project: The school will take the lead in ensuring the functioning and repair of the equipment. Additional Value: Provision of clean and safe water.

Project host community: Loro Union Vision Project Name: Water spring well Project reach: 700 households in the areas Foundation thematic area: Wash Project state: New Project Changemaker: Canowira Jalon Over 700 households use the unsafe/contaminated water collection point for drinking and other home usage. To avert this, the project aims to establish safe water springs for the community.

Purpose of funds: Construction of new spring wells. Sustainability of the project: The community will form a water user committee Additional Value: Clean and convenient water for the community Project host community: FJ Ayume Foundation Project Name: Horticulture projects Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment. Project state: Existing project.

Changemaker: Asiki Muzamil / Kana James In partnership with Our Lady of Fatima, Koboko Parish, the project aims to put the church’s big land into production. They plan to do mixed farming for both crops and animals, while training the community on horticulture.

Purpose of funds: tools to be used in the chosen initiative Sustainability of the project: The parish will contribute to other aspects of the farm Additional Value: Establishing and training a community in horticulture.

MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Eastern Eastern comprises – Amuria, Budaka, Bududa, Bugiri, Bugwere, Bukedea, Bukwo, Bulambuli, Busia, Butaleja, Butebo, Buyende, Iganga, Jinja, Kaberamaido, Kalaki, Kaliro, Kamuli, Kapchorwa, Kapelebyong, Katakwi, Kibuku, Kumi, Kween, Luuka, Manafwa, Mayuge, Mbale, Namayingo, Namisindwa, Namutumba, Ngora, Pallisa, Serere, Sironko, Soroti, and Tororo Districts Applications received – 336 Requested total investment (Ugx 100m) MTN Changemakers – Selected beneficiaries Eastern Project host community: Kumi Project Name: Akalabai Village Stay Foundation thematic area: WASH/Water Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: John Stephen Okuta The project seeks to expand the existing water harvesting system and extend access points to the surrounding communities.

Purpose of funds: Purchase and set up of water tanks and extending 2 access points for communities. Sustainability of the project: A Water User Committee will be set up to collect a monthly fee from community members for maintenance. Additional Value: Provision of clean water to Akalabai and the surrounding communities.

Project host community: Mbale Project Name: Nasasa Women’s Entrepreneurship Group Foundation thematic area: Economic Empowerment Project state: Existing project for expansion The group was formed to support vulnerable single mothers, orphans, and women living with HIV/AIDS. They collectively started a poultry farm specializing in broiler chicken, which they rear and sell to earn a living.

Their challenge is the limited number of birds and lack of access to suitable feeds and vet services. Purpose of funds: Purchase of broiler chicken, feeds, weighing scales, and drinkers to boost production. Sustainability of the project: Group activities will be sustained from the profits the poultry business generates.

Additional Value: Economic empowerment opportunities to single mothers, orphans, and women living with HIV/AIDS. Project host community: Manafwa Project Name: Lwanjusi Community Water Project. Foundation thematic area: WASH/Water Project state: Broken down boreholes and unprotected open water wells.

This project aims to rehabilitate 1 borehole and facilitate the construction of 4 water wells to enhance access to clean, safe water for domestic use. Purpose of funds: Construction of water wells and rehabilitation of 1 borehole. Sustainability of the project: User Committees will be formed to maintain the constructed water access points.

Additional Value: Enhanced access to clean water for domestic use. Project host community: Busia Project Name: Jitoleze Foundation Project reach: 5 schools (1000+ students) Foundation thematic area: Education Project state: New project Changemaker: Clide Odhiambo This is a school project aimed at establishing school gardens to boost school nutrition and curb the high rate of school drop-out due to hunger in schools.

Purpose of funds: Purchase seeds and garden equipment to establish school gardens. Sustainability of the project: The school management committees and school admins will take over the management of the established school gardens Additional Value: Improved nutrition for students in 5 public schools.

Project Name: Bukanga Primary School Project host community: Luuka Foundation thematic area: Education Project state: Existing project for expansion Changemaker: Kibaadha Cranmer The project seeks to renovate a 2-classroom block into a school library to improve literacy levels among learners. Purpose of funds: Renovation of the classroom wall and roofing.

Sustainability of the project: The SMC will take over management of the new library. Additional Value: Improving literacy levels among learners at Bukanga P/S. These Terms and Conditions govern your participation in the Change Makers Programme.

By signing below or by submitting your application on the MTN Website or by submitting your WhatsApp video, you confirm that you have read these Terms and Conditions and that you agree to be bound by them. The Programme will run from 28/10/2025 to 05/12/2025 . I/ We acknowledge that the purpose of the programme is to empower communities and have a multiplier effect.

I/ We understand the nature of the programme and by agreeing to the Terms and Conditions, I/ We hereby consent to the recording and use of my/ our contribution to the programme in accordance with the terms and conditions herein stated. There is no entry fee to the ChangeMakers Programme. Multiple entries of the same project shall be disqualified.

Applications MUST be submitted online or via WhatsApp by submitting a video or by submitting a completed hard copy application form to the nearest MTN Service Centre. All Applicants must be 18 years and above to participate. All Ugandans can apply for their communities Applicants with criminal records shall be automatically disqualified.

The programme is open to all projects in Uganda that fall within the MTN Uganda Foundation’s Focus areas of Economic empowerment, Education, Health, Agriculture, water, and environment. The Project must focus on initiatives that are sustainable or have a lasting impact. The intervention of the project should address a community or societal need.

The project must have the ability to implement positive, direct change in the lives of the beneficiaries. The project must focus on effective stakeholder engagement, whereby those involved or affected by the initiative are consulted before the project is chosen and implemented. The Project should have hands on involvement by local leadership at the highest levels.

This is required to show transparency and showcase community involvement. The project must attempt to obtain the maximum value from the given budget i.e., leveraging available resources. The project must comply with the laws and regulations of Uganda.

The following projects shall not be considered under the ChangeMakers Programme; Projects whose implementation value exceeds twenty million Uganda Shillings (Ugshs. 20,000,000/=). Projects that would take longer than three (3) months to implement.

The criteria indicated under Clause 4 is subject to constant review by MTN Foundation. Projects will be supported with in-kind donations, this means that No Cash donations will be made. Applicants will access the ChangeMakers Programme application via the MTN website .

Applicants must complete the application form on the URL provided above. The submission deadline is 28th November 2025 at 11:59 pm. The committee has full authority and discretion to make final decisions regarding the outcome of the submissions.

I / We hereby indemnify and hold harmless MTN Uganda Foundation, its officials, agents, volunteers, and employees against and liability, injury or death that I/We may sustain as a result of participating in any and all activities connected with or associated with the ChangeMakers Programme.

I/We further agree to indemnify MTN Uganda Foundation, its affiliated entities, and their respective employees, officers, directors, agents, licensees, and assigns, harmless from any and all liability howsoever arising including oversight, negligence, or willful misconduct. MTN Uganda Foundation reserves the right to choose who takes part in the ChangeMakers Programme based on the online, video/WhatsApp and hard copy submissions.

Contestants will be notified via email should their application be successful and notified on the venue of the auditions. By Participating in the ChangeMakers Programme, you further grant and assign to MTN Uganda Foundation an irrevocable, perpetual, royalty-free, transferable license to use the content submitted for Media, Public Relations (PR) and any other communication related activities.

By participating in this Programme, you agree and consent to MTN Uganda Foundation’s collection, use and retention of the personal information that you provide for all purposes related to the Programme (including, but not limited to, processing and administering entries, sharing an entrant’s personal information with MTN Uganda Foundation’s service providers and contractors as necessary to conduct and operate the Programme, communicating with selected Participants, making public announcements of selected Participants, and advertising, promoting and publicizing this Programme.

MTN Foundation reserves the right to monitor and document the impact of the project beyond the period of the ChangeMakers Programme. Any submissions made in violation of these terms will be disqualified whether during or after the selection process and the errant Participants, if already selected, will immediately be disqualified. Any communication or material you do submit will be treated as non-confidential and non-proprietary.

Anything you submit may be used by MTN Uganda Foundation, its affiliates, for any purpose, including, but not limited to, reproduction, disclosure, transmission, publication, broadcast and posting.

MTN Uganda Foundation may edit, copy, publish, distribute, translate, and otherwise use in any medium any submission that you forward to MTN Uganda Foundation and shall be under no obligation to: (1) maintain any of your or any user’s submissions in confidence; (2) to pay to you or any user any compensation for any submissions; or (3) to respond to any of your or any other user’s submissions.

The ChangeMakers Programme will be cancelled where it is void in whole, or in part where prohibited by Law. MTN Foundation is committed to respecting and protecting the privacy of the personal information we collect from you in compliance with the applicable laws and obligations.

MTN Uganda Foundation is not responsible for any entry that is incomplete or incorrect, or for any failures, errors, or delays with respect to submission of any entry. Any attempt by you to deliberately interfere with or manipulate the Programme may be a violation of criminal and/or civil Law and may result, among other things, in disqualification from the Programme.

Ugandan Law shall govern this Programme and any litigation of a dispute arising out of, or in connection with the Programme shall be subject to the sole and exclusive jurisdiction of Ugandan courts. By participating, you irrevocably submit to the sole and exclusive jurisdiction of such courts for such purpose and waive any objection in connection with the same. What is MTN Changemakers.

The MTN believes that we all have a role to improve our communities and that anyone can make that difference. The MTN change maker is an initiative that is seeking to support individuals and organisations that either have ideas or are already implementing projects in their communities to improve people’s lives. This initiative is part of MTN Uganda Foundation.

And therefore, this initiative reflects our commitment to the belief that if we stand together as a nation and support each other, we can achieve the change we want to see in our communities. We believe that Ugandans have shown themselves to be exceptional dreamers and doers.

They have the ability to do extraordinary things with passion, and, therefore needs small support to realise their dreams and transform their communities. Which areas is this initiative focusing on? This initiative is focusing on MTN Foundation’s five key areas namely; economic empowerment, education, health, water and sanitation and agriculture.

Who is eligible to apply for this initiative? Application is open to all people with a heart to change their communities within Uganda that are above the age of 18 with no criminal record. What are the timelines for making the application?

The application is now on and ends on 5th December 2025. Selected winners will be announced after review of applications. How do you plan to ensure fair participation of Ugandans across the country in this initiative?

The heart of this project is to ensure that every eligible Ugandan can participate. We will ensure that winners come from all the five sub regions of Uganda; North, East, Greater Central; Central; and West. How many projects is MTN Uganda looking at supporting in this initiative?

We are looking at supporting 25 communities in the five-sub regions of Uganda mentioned with an added advantage to community projects that impact youth, women and persons with disabilities among others. Selected winners in this initiative will receive support not exceeding UGX 20 million to help them realise their dreams. In total, we hope to invest half a billion shillings (UGX 0.

5BN). Projects will be supported with in-kind donations, this means that No Cash donations will be made. When will successful winners commence project implementation?

Successful applicants will commence their project implementations, followed up by profiling of implemented projects in the first quarter of 2026.
