Five founders will each receive $20,000 to build or reimagine a food and beverage space, such as a bar, restaurant, cafe, event venue, or community space, designed around women’s sports as the main event rather than a secondary broadcast.
To qualify, applicants must own or represent a for-profit business registered and in good standing in the U.S., be at least 18 years old (19 in Alabama and Nebraska), and be a legal U.S. resident; the program is open in all 50 states and Washington, D. C. Businesses can be already operating or still in the planning stage.
Applications are accepted from March 31 through July 31, 2026, with one submission per business. Applicants go through an eligibility screen, then a finalist round judged on narrative strength, community impact, innovation, and mission alignment, with five recipients selected by Stanley 1913 and announced at an in-person event in New York City in October.
Funds can go toward buildout, equipment, programming, community-building, food and beverage costs, marketing, or operations, and recipients may be asked to provide documentation showing how the grant was used. This is a grant, not a loan, so no repayment is required.

Small Business Programs (SBIR/STTR) (DARPA) is sponsored by Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). DARPA's SBIR/STTR programs fund small businesses developing radical, game-changing technologies with the potential to benefit national security, the federal government, and commercial markets. This includes advanced materials and protection technologies, and topics like Expeditionary Power- and Energy-Dense Implementations (ExPEDitions) which seeks to develop rechargeable batteries with significantly higher energy and power density.
xTech|Search 10 is the tenth round of the U.S. Army's flagship open-topic prize competition, the Expeditionary Technology Search, and it is currently open with a submission window running 10 September to 19 October 2026. The Army uses xTechSearch to surface commercially traded, dual-use technologies that could deliver game-changing capability, with modernization priorities that explicitly include AI and machine learning, autonomy, and general warfighting requirements. The mechanism is worth understanding precisely because it differs from a conventional SBIR: companies enter by submitting a short white paper, the Army competitively down-selects up to sixteen finalists, and only those finalists become eligible to submit a Phase I Army SBIR proposal under topic ARM26BX05-NP011 for a follow-on award of up to 300,000 dollars over six months. Participation in the prize competition is therefore a mandatory prerequisite for the contract, and a company that discovers the SBIR topic without the competition will find it cannot bid. The competition is a total small business set-aside. xTechSearch is deliberately aimed at firms that do not normally compete for defence awards, and the white paper format is substantially lighter than a full SBIR proposal, which makes this one of the lowest-friction entry points into Army funding for an AI or autonomy startup with a working commercial product.
The Department of War's Office of Strategic Capital opened its National Security Fund Finance program with facilities of $500 million to $1 billion. It is not a grant, the applicant is not a company, and the eligibility bar filters out almost everyone reading this. Here is who it is actually for — and what the rest of the critical-minerals ecosystem should do about it.

It offers $5 billion, down from $10 billion last round, against demand that already hit $19.2 billion. Applications close November 10.
