Chapter Grants is sponsored by IEEE Computer Society. The IEEE Computer Society offers grants to support member-driven chapter activities and events. Funding is available for small, medium, and large grants, with applications evaluated based on their impact on the chapter, the Computer Society, and/or the world.

Distinguished Visitors : Invite a speaker to your next chapter event. Click here for available speakers funded by the IEEE Computer Society. Chapter Grants : The IEEE Computer Society Board has allocated funding to support member-driven chapter activities and events.

Funding is available to all chapters by application . Small Grants – up to US $500 Medium – US $500 – $1,000 Large – US $1,000 – $2,000. On application, be prepared to explain how the planned activities will impact the chapter, the Computer Society, and/or the world.

*Student branch chapters may apply for small grants only. Funding is competitive and available on a first-come, first-served basis and reviewed by the committee as received. Chapters may apply for multiple grants in any given year.

Chapters receiving grants will be asked to complete a final report. NOTE : 2026 Marks the IEEE Computer Society’s 80th anniversary! We want everyone in the community to have the opportunity to celebrate.

Applications that propose meaningful chapter activities and document a path to growth will be favored Alignment with the IEEE Computer Society Mission Number of IEEE CS members impacted Support of IEEE CS DEI Initiatives Activities to support students and early career professionals Benefit to industry members Outreach to the general public promoting the fields represented by the IEEE Computer Society and its mission Core Funding : The Computer Society matches the chapters IEEE sections’ first US $200 of chapter funding, provided chapters meet the qualifications below.

Be an IEEE Computer Society Professioal Section or Joint Section Chapter in good standing Have a Chapter Chair registered with IEEE Officer Reporting Run and reported at least 2 technical activities for the current reporting year Incentive Funding : As a reward for Section Chapters and Joint Chapters that are best advancing our strategic goals, they will be provided with additional funding.

This will be determined using the point system below.

23 Chapters will get USD $650 instead of USD $200 This includes the top chapter from each regional grouping The runner-up in each of the three regional groupings with the most chapters The next top 13 chapters anywhere in the world 50 Chapters will get USD $300 instead of USD $200 The top 3 chapters from each of R5&6 (Southwest and Western US), R8 (EMEA), and R10 (APAC) The top 2 chapters from each of R1&2 (Northeast and Eastern US), and R3&4 (Southeast and Central US) The top chapter from R7 (Canada) and R9 (Latin America) The next top 35 chapters anywhere in the world Officer and committee reporting 3 points for naming and reporting a treasurer or secretary/treasurer 1 point each for up to 4 additional appointments Attending GAC, regional and area committee meetings 3 points for attending a general chapter chairs meeting 3 points for attending a regional or area committee meeting 1 additional point for attending more than 2 GAC, regional, or area committee meetings by the end of May 2022 Organizing technical meetings and events 2 points for each technical meeting the chapter arranges between January and May 2022 up to a total of 4 meetings 1 additional point for each of up to 2 meetings beyond that.

3 points if at least one activity involves targeted participation by industry or outreach to members in industry 3 points if at least one activity is geared to Early-Career members Awards, Scholarships, & Contests The IEEE Computer Society has recognition opportunities for professionals and students participating in chapters activities. Merwin Scholarship is available for students involved in IEEE and/or IEEE Computer Society activities and who show academic promise. Lance Stafford Larson Paper Contest encourages students to develop their communication skills and achievement in the field of computer science. Upsilon Pi Epsilon Student Award rewards academic excellence of students.

WEIGD Student Support Fund covers up to US $4,000 of IEEE Computer Society membership dues every year for students who demonstrate to strive for a computer science career. Additional annual student competitions sponsored by the IEEE Computer Society: Global Student Video Challenge asks students to share hacks, tips, languages, or code libraries that can unlock possibilities of how we interact with and use technology. IEEE GameSIG is an intercollegiate computer game competition aimed at boosting students’ resumes while promoting coding, teamwork, and presentation skills.

IEEE CS Sister Chapter Program An Initiative by the IEEE CS Geographic Activities Committee (GAC) The IEEE Computer Society (CS) Geographic Activities Committee is proud to announce the launch of the Sister Chapters Program. This global initiative is designed to build bridges between local chapters across all IEEE regions, fostering a culture of international cooperation and shared growth.

The Sister Chapters Program pairs high-performing chapters with emerging chapters (including those recently formed, reorganizing, or rebuilding). Together, these partners will co-host activities aimed at technical excellence and professional growth. Leadership Growth: Enhance organizational skills through cross-border collaboration.

Technical Knowledge: Broaden your chapter’s expertise by co-hosting specialized technical events. Cultural Exchange: Provide members with unique opportunities to network with peers from different global regions. Global Recognition: Top-performing collaborations will be featured as Case Studies in official reports to the Board and MGAB and highlighted in our global outreach campaigns.

Partnered chapters are expected to collaborate on: Technical Activities: At least two joint sessions (in-person or virtual) focusing on technical skills or industry trends. Membership Development: At least one joint initiative focused on recruitment or member engagement. Reporting: All events must be logged as “Joint Activities” via IEEE vTools.

Additionally, chapters must submit a quarterly progress report to the committee (submission links will be provided). We invite all Professional and Student Computer Society chapters worldwide to apply. Application Deadline: May 30, 2026.

We recommend that Chapter Chairs and Student Chapter Advisors apply using the following link: Apply Here Certification: Key volunteers from both mentor and emerging chapters will receive official certificates from their respective Regional Coordinators. Next Steps: Following the deadline, our Coordination Team will pair the selected chapters and notify organizers regarding the next phase of the program.
