Chesapeake Oyster Innovation Award Program - Chesapeake Bay Trust Chesapeake Oyster Innovation Award Program The Chesapeake Bay Trust and Chesapeake Oyster Alliance (a program supported by the Chesapeake Bay Foundation ) are excited to continue our partnership, for the Chesapeake Oyster Innovation Award Program for another year.
The purposes of the program are to 1) increase knowledge within priority audiences of the value of oysters, oyster fisheries, and aquaculture efforts, 2) advance technologies for increasing oyster population or aquaculture production, and/or 3) advance oyster population monitoring techniques and or datasets. What this funds: The funding partners will consider projects that meet any of the following three goals stated above.

Who can apply: Funding partners welcome requests from members of the Chesapeake Oyster Alliance (COA) including community organizations and both for-profit and 501(c)(3) nonprofit organizations.
This does not include the Reef Builder Tier at this time. If your organization is not a member of the COA but is interested in becoming a member and thus creating eligibility to apply to this program, please contact Tanner Council at tcouncil@cbf. org .
How much can be awarded: Up to $10,000. Is match required? Match is encouraged, but not required.

Portsmouth Public Schools – Learning About Oysters in the Classroom and on the Water 2021 The Portsmouth Public Schools Oyster Project engaged students in a Meaning Watershed Educational Experience, (MWEE) with a focus on an oyster float experiment, oyster growth data collection and analysis, oyster habitat, oyster life cycle, oyster anatomy and the impact oysters have on the environment.
Fifteen 5th grade students were selected to participate in a MWEE, the Oyster Project summer camp, to investigate Oyster and oyster habitat, and release oysters on reefs in the Elizabeth River, part of the Chesapeake Bay Watershed. All of Portsmouth Public School (PPS) 5th grade students (1000 students) learned about oysters through PPS Oyster Project YouTube Videos.
