Child Care Scholarships | United Way Powered by United Way of San Antonio and Bexar County's Women United Supporting Parents Pursuing Higher Education and Job Training United Way’s Child Care Scholarship provides a pathway to stability and success for parents working toward a better future.
Designed specifically for parents pursuing an undergraduate degree or participating in long-term job training and workforce development programs, this support makes it easier to balance the demands of school, work and parenting. Along with financial assistance for child care, the program connects families to essential resources and services that help them thrive in the classroom, in their careers and at home.
Important Notice to Applicants: We receive a high volume of applications and not every applicant will be selected for the program. Applications are thoroughly reviewed by a Volunteer Review Panel.
Parents selected for a United Way Child Care Scholarship must meet the following criteria: Pursuing an associate or bachelor’s degree for the first time or attending a workforce development training program (training program must take place over a minimum of 4 months) Enrolled with an academic institution or workforce development program Minimum of 12 hours per semester or be considered full-time Minimum of 6 hours per semester if working a minimum of 19 hours per week Committed to maintaining a minimum GPA of 2.
5 Have demonstrated financial need (applicant will be required to verify household income and expenses during the application process) Not enrolled in any other subsidized child care program Is a citizen or legal resident of the United States and a resident of Bexar County Scholarship Program Expectations Parents selected for a United Way Child Care Scholarship must meet the following expectations: Complete a financial literacy course (must submit proof of program completion) Meet with a United Way Child Care Scholarship Coordinator monthly The application for Fall 2027 scholarships closes on Monday, July 6, 2026, at 5:00 p.
