Child Passenger Safety Funding & Trainings Available – Fire Chiefs Association of Massachusetts Child Passenger Safety Funding & Trainings Available August 19, 2025 FCAM General Postings The Office of Grants and Research (OGR) is committed to improving the safety of all road users, including child passengers who are especially vulnerable in the event of a crash.
Our Highway Safety Division has several opportunities currently available to support this mission. Child Passenger Safety Education and Assistance Program Deadline: August 31 or when funds are depleted, whichever comes first Is a member of your organization a certified Child Passenger Safety (CPS) Technician who currently performs car seat checks? Then you may be eligible for the Child Passenger Safety Education and Assistance Program.
This program allows eligible Massachusetts state and municipal agencies, not-for-profit hospitals, and nonprofits serving children and/or families to request free car seats for distribution to low-income families in need. Agencies may request up to a maximum of $10,000 worth of car seats or as few seats as the agency wishes. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis until August 31 or funds are depleted, whichever comes first.

Become a Child Passenger Safety Technician Upcoming Training Opportunities According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), up to 46% of car seats are installed incorrectly, putting children at risk in the event of a crash.
CPS Technicians are trained to install all types of car seats. Through our contract with the current Statewide Training Provider , OGR funds CPS Technician training courses and reimburses certification fees. The next available trainings will take place in Medford (9/9-9/11) and Salem (9/22-9/24).
