Each week, we provide critical grants for recipients with life-altering or life-threatening needs.

From therapy equipment like adaptive tricycles and robotic walkers to service dogs, and a wide range of mobility items, Chive Charities fills the gaps where insurance and other resources cannot. Chive Charities tells our recipients' stories in a way that makes them a hero of their own story and raises awareness for their cause. We share our recipient stories throughout our network in hopes to educate, advocate, and inspire.

Please read all FAQ's before beginning. We work with our recipients to provide items which will improve their quality of life. Each recipient's case is unique and the items covered are based on the recipient's needs as well as the charity's budget at the time of selection.

Currently, we can only help causes in the United States. How does Chive Charities help? Chive Charities tells our recipients' stories in a way that makes them a hero of their own story and raises awareness for their cause.

We share our recipient stories throughout our network in hopes to educate, advocate, and inspire. Each week, we provide critical grants for individuals with life-altering or life-threatening needs. From therapy equipment like adaptive tricycles and robotic walkers to service dogs, and a wide range of mobility items, Chive Charities fills the gaps where insurance and other resources cannot.

Items we’ve covered in the past can be found here. Chive Charities does not cover past-due medical bills, rent, mortgage or car payments, funeral costs, lost family income, or experimental procedures without governmental body approval. Who can apply for a Chive Charities grant?

You may apply for yourself, a family member, or someone for whom you have guardianship. Due to the number of applications we receive, individuals may only apply once for assistance. How does Chive Charities determine eligibility?

Chive Charities utilizes NORD and GARD databases and physical documentation to confirm the diagnosis and rarity of our rare medical applicants Veterans must have received an honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions after their military service Military families include active-duty service members and veterans, and those with a dependent diagnosed with a life-altering medical condition First responders include Law Enforcement Officers, Firefighters, EMS/Paramedics, 911 operators Applicants will be asked to provide a letter from a medical professional confirming diagnosis and the need for the requested grant item Grant items must either improve quality of life or be medically-related and not fully covered by insurance Applicants who’ve fundraised over $30,000 may not be eligible for a grant and all applicants are required to report on fundraising activity in the application Applicants with income above $100,000 may not be eligible for a grant What information is required to complete the application??

Note: all sensitive documents are uploaded to and housed in our secure server Income documentation including form 1040 and/or SSA-1099 Photo identification (driver’s license, state-issued identification card, student identification card, passport, or passport card) A list of requested grant items, quotes for each one, and an explanation of how each item will support the applicant Fundraising efforts to date with links to campaigns if available.

(Fundraising is not required to apply) Digital photos of the applicant For rare medical applicants: documentation of the applicant’s diagnosis and support for the request grant item(s) from a medical professional For military family, veteran and first responder applicants: documentation of the applicant’s diagnosis or disability from a medical professional For military family and veteran applicants: Military ID (from service member or spouse) or DD214 to verify honorable discharge or general discharge under honorable conditions For first responder applicants: a professional reference letter confirming current or past employment, or employee ID from the current employer How long should I expect to wait for my application to be processed?

It is important to Chive Charities that each application is reviewed thoroughly. Once your application is submitted and reviewed, our team will follow up via email and share a timeline with you. Please make sure the email in your application is current.
