CHRC Internship and Experiential Learning Grants | Ohio University CHRC Internship and Experiential Learning Grants Call for Grant Applications Fall Cycle Deadline: September 20, 2026 (by 11:59PM) The Central Region Humanities Center invites applications from Ohio University faculty or community partner organizations for a Student Internship and Experiential Learning Grant.
Proposed projects must focus on Ohio and/or one of the larger geographic regions of which it is part (the Ohio River Valley, Great Lakes Region, Old Northwest Territory, or the Midwest.) Applicants must demonstrate that they are working in a humanities, public humanities, or humanities related discipline*. Eligibility and Award Details Applicant must be an Ohio University faculty member in a humanities or humanities related discipline or represent a public humanities institution within the Ohio region. Grants will support projects that offer internship or experiential learning opportunities in the humanities for Ohio University students.
Examples of successful proposals include community engagement and creative activities projects, and projects that facilitate student participation in academic or public humanities initiatives. Applicants can request up to $1,000 to be used during the 2026-2027 academic year.
Applicants will be asked to provide the following information on the online application : Application narrative (250 words maximum) describing the research or internship/experiential learning project the award would support. Justification of eligibility (250 words maximum) indicating the significance of the project to the humanities.
Schedule of activities (100 words maximum) providing a timeline for the work proposed in the application. Itemized budget (150 words maximum) explaining the proposed allocation of award funds.
*According to the National Endowment for the Humanities, “The term 'humanities' includes, but is not limited to, the study of the following: language, both modern and classical; linguistics; literature; history; jurisprudence; philosophy; archaeology [and anthropology]; comparative religion; ethics; the history, criticism and theory of the arts; those aspects of social sciences which have humanistic content and employ humanistic methods; and the study and application of the humanities to the human environment with particular attention to reflecting our diverse heritage, traditions, and history and to the relevance of the humanities to the current conditions of national life.
”
