City of Blaine Home Improvement Grants is sponsored by City of Blaine, MN. Provides grants to homeowners of properties assessed at $450,000 or less and at least 30 years old for home improvement projects.

City Home Improvement Grants | Blaine, MN City Home Improvement Grants City Home Improvement Grants Home improvement grants are available to owners of homes with a 2025 assessed value of $450,000 or less and that are at least 30 years old. No income limits apply. Programs cover a portion of the project cost.

Previously completed projects are not eligible. All work must be completed after a grant agreement has been executed by the homeowner and the City. Homes must be owner occupied and homesteaded.

Grants are paid on a reimbursement basis after project completion. Applicants may only utilize one grant program per year (Front Door Program or Major Remodeling Program). Receive a grant of up to $6,000 to improve the curb appeal of your home.

Funds are limited. Project cost must total at least $4,000 with at least $1,000 in cost from the required project list. Grant amount is 20 percent of the total project cost, up to a grant of $6,000.

Must include at least one item, with a cost of at least $1,000 from this list: Brick, stone, shake, or other contrasting siding texture Premium siding, such as Hardie, LP Smart Side, or EDCO Adding or expanding covered or uncovered front porch Adding or enhancing front door/porch columns Gutters, trim, soffit, fascia Brick repointing/tuckpointing Retaining wall repair and replacement Determine project scope and obtain bids Complete project and pay contractors Submit reimbursement paperwork Early Application Cycle Late Application Cycle Application Deadline March 15 May 1 Bid Submission Deadline June 1 July 15 Project Completion Deadline September 15 November 1 Receive a grant of up to $10,000 to complete major remodeling projects in your home, such as finishing a basement, adding a bathroom, or gutting a kitchen.

To receive the maximum reimbursement projects must also include exterior upgrades such as a new front door, adding brick to the front of the home, or new landscaping. Projects must have a total cost of at least $35,000.

Eligible major remodeling projects: Finishing an unfinished space Constructing a covered front porch Converting a garage into livable space (minimum garage space required by code must remain) Major kitchen, bathroom or basement remodel Reconfiguring living space (moving walls) The reimbursement rate ranges from 5-15 percent and is determined by the number of exterior upgrade projects: Constructing or enhancing columns at the front door Building a covered front porch Enhancing the front of the house with brick, stone, or shake Upgrading the front door and/or garage door if it faces the street Enhancing the front facade with shutters, decorative lighting, window boxes, or similar elements (minimum costs of $1,000) Major landscaping (minimum cost of $2,000) Reimbursement Rate Maximum Grant Amount No Exterior Improvements 5 percent $3,000 One Exterior Improvement 10 percent $6,500 Two Exterior Improvements 15 percent $10,000 Apply Online
