Putting Civic Hubs at the center of our small grants program – Trust for Civic Life Putting Civic Hubs at the center of our small grants program Over the past quarter, the Trust for Civic Life awarded $1. 9 million to 21 of our Civic Hub grantees to help us identify and support dozens of hyper-local civic experiments in their communities.
This marks an important shift in our Civic Experiments small grants program, which came directly out of what we learned in 2024. Last year, we distributed $1. 5 million to support more than 100 civic projects across rural America.
While most of these small grants were awarded directly by the Trust, we also tested a Hub-led approach with three of our Civic Hubs, where they sourced and supported experiments in their communities. These Hubs quickly identified creative, high-impact projects we could not have found on our own. Because of that learning, we put Civic Hubs at the center of the small grants program in 2025.
