22, 2026 COLUMBUS, Ohio — Millions of dollars in funding is now available in grant funding, the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission announced, for environmental preservation and protecting natural resources.
MORPC said the grants total $13 million via the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund Funding will be divided between two distinct administrative districts to target the acquisition of green space and the enhancement of river and stream corridors The Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program is a competitive grant program administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission MORPC said the grants total $13 million via the Clean Ohio Conservation Fund.
“The Clean Ohio Conservation Fund remains a vital tool for ensuring that Central Ohio’s growth is balanced with the protection of our most sensitive natural resources,” said Jessica Kuenzli, MORPC Chief Regional Planning Officer. “By securing this $13 million in funding, our local partners can continue to preserve the waterways and open spaces that define our region’s character and improve the quality of life for every resident.
” Funding will be divided between two distinct administrative districts to target the acquisition of green space and the enhancement of river and stream corridors. District 3 within Franklin County has approximately $10 million for Fiscal Year 2027. Officials said local governments, park districts and nonprofit conservation organizations are encouraged to apply.
Preliminary applications are due on June 1, 2026, and final applications are due by Aug. 28, 2026. District 17, a multi-county district, has approximately $3 million for Fiscal Year 2027 for projects in Delaware, Union, Pickaway, Fairfield, Knox and Licking counties.
The funding is for regional efforts to link natural areas and provide public access to Ohio’s natural heritage. Final applications for this district are due by Sept. 18, 2026.
“The Ohio Public Works Commission is proud to be able to support conservation by helping to protect and enhance green spaces and stream corridors across Franklin County for the public to enjoy,” said Jennifer Hufford, Small Government Administrator and OPWC Program Representative. The Clean Ohio Green Space Conservation Program is a competitive grant program administered by the Ohio Public Works Commission.
Projects are evaluated by local Natural Resources Assistance Councils based on abilities to preserve natural areas, restore degraded landscapes, and enhance biodiversity. For more information, click here .
