Clean Vessel Act (CVA) Grant Program is sponsored by Ohio Department of Natural Resources. Funding is available to public and private marinas and other vessel facilities that serve recreational boaters for projects related to marine sewage disposal.

The purpose of the Clean Vessel Act (CVA) program is to provide grants to States and Territories for pumpout stations and waste reception facilities to safely dispose of recreational boater sewage and keep waters clean.

The program is funded by revenues collected from excise taxes on motorboat fuel, certain electric motors and fishing equipment, and import duties on fishing tackle and yachts deposited into the Sport Fish Restoration Trust Fund. Signage must be displayed and visible to boaters on the water, and facilities constructed, operated, or maintained with CVA funds must be accessible to the public for all of its useful life.

Records, accounts, and supporting documents must be retained for three years after submission of the final Financial Status Report. Cost Sharing Requirement Type: Mandatory Description: The annual program funding comes from the Sport Fish Restoration and Boating Trust Fund.

It and the Sportfishing and Boating Safety Act Program (15. 622) receive a combined total of four percent of the funds in the Trust Fund. Trust funds are derived from excise taxes on fishing equipment, motorboat and small engine fuels, import duties, and interest on the fund.

The Federal share of the project costs cannot exceed 75 percent for the 50 States, the District of Columbia, and the Commonwealth of Puerto Rico. The first $200,000 of match must be waived for the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands and the territories of Guam, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and American Samoa.
