Clinical Laboratory Science Investigator Award

Clinical Laboratory Science Investigator Award is sponsored by CAP Foundation. This award provides funding for a four-week onsite training for pathology residents to participate in research projects improving the discovery, quality, and delivery of novel biomarker assays for use in clinical studies.

CAP Foundation offers scholarships ranging from $300 to $25,000 to support resident training, research, leadership opportunities, and patient-centered work by pathologists to help prepare the pathology leaders of tomorrow.

CAP Foundation Grants & Awards Leadership Development Award – Missouri Pathology Residents Introduces pathology residents to the specialty’s issues and leadership opportunities at the institutional, local, state, and national levels. Pathology Residents who are actively enrolled in an accredited Missouri pathology residency program.

Presidential Pathology Scholarship Application Deadline Extended to November 12, 2026 This scholarship allows the sitting CAP President to personally support educational creativity, expand awareness of pathology, and connect communities through the CAP Foundation’s mission to develop tomorrow’s pathology leaders.

Board certified pathologists, pathology residents with at least one year of residency completed at the time of application, or medical students actively enrolled in an accredited US-based medical school with a strong interest in the field of pathology, who present a project that aligns with or advances the CAP President's stated focus* for the year.

All applicants will be considered regardless of age, race, gender, national origin, or religion.

Global pathology/health care organizations and/or pathologists working in under-resourced areas across the globe Global Pathology Education Award Access to one year of complimentary CAP membership and education for international pathologists practicing in medically under-resourced areas around the globe. Physicians practicing the specialty of pathology in medically under-resourced countries.

Jean and Gene Herbek, MD, FCAP Humanitarian Award The Jean and Gene Herbek, MD, FCAP Humanitarian Award, introduced in 2011, is named in honor of the late Gene N. Herbek, MD, FCAP, a past president of the CAP who brought the first See, Test & Treat program to Native American women in South Dakota, as well as for his wife, Jean, who continues his commitment.

The award honors a CAP Member who has made innovative and unique contributions to advance the See, Test & Treat program. Funding supporting attendance at informatics-based educational sessions (CAP Annual Meeting). Keitges Grant for Medical Ethics Provides funding for programs addressing some aspect of pathology from an ethical perspective (e.g., the leadership role of pathologists in medical ethics, patient care, and patient advocacy).
