Innovation and Evaluation Grants – CMHDARN Innovation and Evaluation Grants CMHDARN Innovation & Evaluation Grant 2026/27- Applications Now Open! CMHDARN is excited to announce the 2026 – 2027 Innovation and Evaluation Grant, a $20,000 opportunity to support innovative projects that strengthen practice across both the mental health (MH) and alcohol and other drugs (AOD) sectors.
We’re looking for projects that: Champion innovation and evaluation Address both MH and AOD service delivery concerns including models and practice approaches Build sector knowledge and capacity We especially welcome projects that explore intersections with: Lived experience collaboration and leadership First Nations safety and wellbeing Criminal justice interface Trauma-informed practice and organisational change Integration of human rights Supported Decision Making outcomes Whether you’re evaluating a new program, addressing a service gap, or exploring recurring questions in your practice, this grant is for you.

Wayahead will utilise these funds to undertake their research project Reducing Self Stigma Through Peer Led Anxiety Support Groups: A Longitudinal Mixed Methods Study with Implications for Mental Health and AOD Services. Bravo Wayahead!
CMHDARN Innovation and Evaluation Grant 2025/2026 – Congratulations to ACON Health CMHDARN is pleased to be providing a grant to ACON Health for their research project The M3THOD Program: Co-evaluation of a peer-led intervention reducing sexualised drug use harms among gender and sexuality diverse people in Australia.
This project will transform innovation and evaluation capacity in the community-based MH and AOD sectors by developing a tailored evaluation protocol for M3THOD, a peer-led intervention spanning sexual wellbeing, drug use, and mental health at ACON. Congratulations to the recipients of the CMHDARN Innovation and Evaluation Grant 2022/2023 CMHDARN has the pleasure of announcing the recipient of the Innovation and Evaluation Grant 2022-2023 of $20,000 is Youth Solutions in partnership with Stride and University of Wollongong. Their project, ‘ Barriers to access and engagement of young people with co-morbid substance use and mental health struggles: what are we missing?
’ will engage young people with lived experience of substance use and/or mental health concerns, along with parents and carers, in considering the unique challenges in accessing care and engaging with services. The researchers are keen to engage in co-production research, and hope that this project may lead to new insights and innovations in service provision and potential community oriented solutions.
