Cochise Environmental Fund is sponsored by Arizona Community Foundation. Part of the Arizona Community Foundation's efforts, this fund supports grant funding for projects and programs that enhance Arizona's environment and sustainability efforts within Cochise County.

Give Locally to Southeast Arizona - ACF Since 1998, the Arizona Community Foundation of Cochise has supported local donors, community members, nonprofits, and students with the passion and expertise that drive effective, long-lasting impact. Serving Southeast Arizona This regional office focuses on mobilizing enduring philanthropy for those in southeast Arizona.

We are staffed with people who reside in and are passionate for these communities. With back-office support from our central office, ACF of Cochise can focus on community building and local donor development. Nonprofits serving local communities can begin their application as early as April 7, with final applications due no later than April 30.

ACF will host a free virtual Grant Application Workshop to equip organizations serving Gila Valley and Cochise with the knowledge and tools to submit successful applications. Factors like increased tourism, the conversion of long-term rentals into vacation rentals, and the rising cost of home sales and rentals make it especially difficult for Bisbee’s residents to obtain long-term affordable housing options. The Workforce Housing Initiative, a partnership between Step Up Bisbee Naco and the City of Bisbee, is a self-sustaining program that reinvests proceeds from home sales into future projects.

Since 2020, the nonprofit has renovated or built 10 homes, providing affordable housing for essential workers and addressing Bisbee’s growing housing crisis. Step Up Bisbee Naco is starting a nine-house development project that a $25,000 grant from the Arizona Community Foundation will help bring to fruition.

“The funding from ACF will help us expand our workforce housing program,” said Danielle Bouchever, SUBN Board Member, “It will allow us to renovate or build more homes for hospital staff, teachers, firefighters, city employees, and police officers. ” Once a home is ready to sell, SUBN provides up to a 20% discount on the appraised value for the vital workers they hope to recruit and retain in the community.

Candace DeWitt works at Copper Queen Community Hospital in Bisbee. She is also a caretaker for her mother and her best friend’s father. Before she was approved for the loan to purchase a house through Step Up Bisbee Naco, she was traveling over two hours per day between caretaking and work.

Every day, I wake up and say thankful prayers. The work of this organization is so important. Owning a home is something I take a lot of pride in.

It’s a blessing beyond imagination. Grants are available year-round for nonprofits serving southeast Arizona. ACF of Cochise is guided by local community members who enhance our work.

There are multiple giving options to support Patagonia and eastern Santa Cruz County. This community also offers an annual competitive grant cycle to fund local organizations. The Douglas Area Community Fund provides a permanent source of funding in support of youth programs, leadership development, and entrepreneurialism throughout the Douglas area.

Grants from the Northern Cochise Community Fund support youth, leadership, culture, and entrepreneurship in the geographic areas of Willcox, Bonita, Bowie, San Simon, Cochise, Dos Cabezas, Dragoon and Pearce/Sunsites.
