College Affordability Grant (CAG)

College Affordability Grant (CAG) is sponsored by New Mexico Higher Education Department. The purpose of the College Affordability Grant is to encourage New Mexico students with financial need, who do not qualify for other state grants or scholarships, to attend and complete educational programs at a public New Mexico college or university.

Grants and State Scholarships | Financial Aid Grants and State Scholarships Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education Grant (TEACH Grant) Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) State Grants and Scholarships College Affordability Grant (CAG) New Mexico Student Incentive Grant/Leveraging Educational Assistance Partnership (NMSIG/LEAP) New Mexico Lottery Scholarship for New Mexico residents Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Through the College Cost Reduction and Access Act of 2007, Congress created the Teacher Education Assistance for College and Higher Education (TEACH) Grant Program that provides grants of up to $4,000 per year to students who intend to teach in a public or private elementary or secondary school that serves students from low-income families.

ENMU is proud to participate in the Teach Grant Program. Below is a list of criteria that must be met for a student to be deemed eligible for this grant. For more information about the teach grant, please visit the Department of Education website .

Eligibility Requirements: Complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), although you do not have to demonstrate financial need. Be a U.S. citizen or eligible non-citizen. Be enrolled as an undergraduate and accepted into the Teacher Education Program.

Be enrolled in coursework that is necessary to begin a career in teaching or plan to complete such coursework. Such coursework may include subject area courses (e.g., math courses for a student who intends to be a math teacher). Meet certain academic achievement requirements (generally, scoring above the 75th percentile on a college admissions test or maintaining a cumulative GPA of at least 3.

25). Sign a TEACH Grant Agreement to Serve Bilingual Education and English Language Acquisition A Federal Pell Grant, unlike a loan, does not have to be repaid. Pell Grants are only awarded to undergraduate students who have not earned a bachelor's or a professional degree.

Pell Grants are considered a foundation of federal financial aid, to which aid from other federal and nonfederal sources might be added. The maximum amount can change each award year and depends on program funding.

The amount you get, though, will depend not only on your financial need, but also on your costs to attend school, your status as a full-time or part-time student, and your plans to attend school for a full academic year or less. The amount of Pell Grant you may be eligible to receive will be based on the Estimated Family Contribution (EFC) amount that is located on your Student Aid Report (SAR).

The student aid report is generated and emailed to you whenever you complete the FAFSA online. If you never received a copy of your student aid report via email, please visit the FAFSA website and simply click "View and Print Your Student Aid Report" under Step 3.

Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (SEOG) The Federal Supplemental Educational Opportunity Grant (FSEOG) program is for undergraduates with exceptional financial need. Pell Grant recipients with the lowest expected family contributions (EFCs) will be considered first for a FSEOG. Just like Pell Grants, the FSEOG does not have to be repaid.

You can obtain an approximation of your EFC and any federal aid you may qualify for by creating a free profile for use on the Department of Education FAFSA4Caster website . ENMU Financial Aid recommends for students to utilize this helpful tool early and often.
