Colorado Health Foundation Grants for Recovery is sponsored by Colorado Health Foundation. Funding for Colorado 501(c)(3) nonprofits and government organizations providing non-clinical, peer-led recovery supports for adults. Grants strengthen community- and purpose-focused programs for Coloradans facing mental health and/or substance use challenges.

Our funding cycles are one way we collaborate with communities and organizations to break down the many systemic inequities that stand in the way of our health.

Deadline: October 15, 2026 Advancing Advocacy and Justice with Communities of Color Deadline: February 15, 2027 Priority Area: Thriving Young People Developing Agency, Identity, and Belonging in Youth Our funding focuses on populations whose lack of power, privilege or income is a barrier to their health and well-being. Each funding opportunity offers its own specific eligibility criteria.

Typically, we consider grants for the following: Projects: Specific sets of activities carried out over a defined period of time Capacity Building: Enhancing business capabilities (financing, governance, planning) Capital: Facilities or infrastructure improvements What Organizations Are Eligible to Apply?

Colorado organizations classified as tax-exempt under section 501(c)(3) Colorado public agencies, including state and local governments New or emerging organizations without 501(c)(3) status, through a tax-exempt organization acting as fiscal sponsor.

The fiscal sponsor must maintain full discretion and control over any awarded grant funds and should have the organizational capacity to manage and accept the risks involved with fiscal sponsorship. The project must be aligned with the fiscal sponsor’s charitable mission. The fiscal sponsor’s board must approve of the project as furthering the sponsor’s charitable mission before applying for a grant from The Colorado Health Foundation.

To be eligible for funding, organizations must abide by all applicable local, state and federal anti-discrimination laws in hiring and employment practices and when providing services.

Note: If a public support test requirement to retain public charity status applies to your organization, as a public charity grantee of The Colorado Health Foundation, it is essential that you ensure a grant from The Colorado Health Foundation will not cause your organization to lose its status as a publicly supported charity.

Scholarships or scholarship funds Programs that require membership in a certain religion or advance a particular religious faith (faith-based organizations may be eligible for funding if they welcome and serve all members of the community regardless of religious faith, provided they do not require participation in activities that are specifically religious) Programs operated by, or that benefit, for-profit organizations Organizations that willfully discriminate against a particular class of individuals Ensure your work aligns with our cornerstones and 10 priority areas .

15, June 15, Oct. 15) fall on a holiday or weekend, the deadline is the next business day. Applications must be received by 11:59 p.

m. on the deadline date. Your organization can submit applications for more than one grant and during more than one funding cycle.

Please note the following: If submitting for more than one grant, you must submit separate applications for each. If submitting for a renewal of a current grant, you must wait until four months before the grant deadline to submit your application. All applicants are assigned a program officer who will serve as their primary point of contact for the Foundation.

Each applicant can discuss their application with their program officer and ask them questions. Program officers may request a site visit. At any point during the process, feel free to contact your designated program officer with questions or concerns.

The review process takes approximately 90 days. Applicants are notified as soon as decisions are reached. If your applicant is declined, and you'd like to discuss the review and decision, please contact your program officer.

Third-Party Partnerships: We often partner with third-party evaluators, contractors and other organizations in our work with applicants and grantees. Your application and its attachments may be shared with these individuals or entities during the review process and grant cycle.

All third-party organizations partnering with the Foundation have signed a confidentiality agreement and will not use or share the information for purposes outside of the scope of work specific to the grant application or grant award.
