ComEd Green Region Grant Program

ComEd Green Region Grant Program is sponsored by ComEd (administered by Openlands). The ComEd Green Region Grant program provides funding for conservation projects across Northern Illinois.

All applications must be submitted by this time. Incomplete or late applications will not be considered. Openlands is partnering with ComEd to administer the ComEd Green Region Grant.

Recognizing that open space in our communities is crucial to the quality of our lives, ComEd has committed to supporting public agencies, non-profits, schools, school districts, and housing authorities of northern Illinois in ComEd’s service territory with their ongoing efforts to protect or improve public spaces for the benefit of all.

ComEd designed the ComEd Green Region Grant to assist local communities in these efforts by providing funding for some expenses towards these goals. Underlying the grant is ComEd’s endorsement of deliberate planning for open space protection to encourage the wisest use of scarce resources. Grants of up to $10,000 support projects that focus on planning, acquisition, and improvements to open spaces accessible to the general public.

Grant recipients can use ComEd Green Region grants in combination with other funding sources to cover a portion of the expenses associated with developing and/or supporting their open space programs. All grant funds must be fully expended within 18 months of receipt of funds.
