The Fund targets companies in the advanced manufacturing, active lifestyle, bioscience, medical devices, and natural resource industries. The Commercialization Gap Fund supports companies as they further develop their product to be ready to go to market, providing investment for the “commercialization gap” between initial startup and when private investment is available.
Business Oregon intends the investments to unlock additional private seed investors for the company. To be considered for a CGF investment, a company must meet the following baseline eligibility criteria: Be an Oregon-based startup; Be in an Oregon InC target sector, which currently include: digital health, bioscience, clean tech, advanced materials, active lifestyle, advanced manufacturing, and natural resources.
Be in early stage prior to commercialization, less than 5 years old and have less than $1M in total net revenue. Meeting these criteria does not guarantee investment. The fund manager has full discretion to determine whether a company is a good fit for investment, even if it meets the initial eligibility requirements.
Portland Seed Fund (PSF) has been selected by Business Oregon as the current Fund Manager for the Commercialization Gap Fund III, also known as the Intrepid Oregon Fund. PSF is currently deploying the funds in early-stage innovations across Oregon and makes all investment determinations. For more information on the Gap Fund portfolios, please see below.
