Community AED Grants is sponsored by Medic One Foundation. Provides grants for purchasing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in public areas within Washington State, prioritizing organizations serving vulnerable or underserved populations.

Community AED Grants - Medic One Foundation The Medic One Foundation offers a limited number of grants for the purchase of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) to be placed in public areas such as local government facilities, community centers, playfields, parks, and lawenforcement vehicles within Washington State .

Priority will be given and grants awarded based upon demonstrated financial need, population served, location,and potential impact. Our funding is provided through donations to the Medic One Foundation by the generous people of the Puget Sound region. As you can imagine, we receive many requests from many worthwhile organizations.

Unfortunately, we can’t support them all, but be assured that your application will be carefully reviewed and considered. Grant applicants should ensure that the project: Serves vulnerable or underserved populations without access to AEDs. Assures the AED(s) remains accessible to the public.

Does not supplement equipment included in ongoing operating budgets.

Recent Community AED Grant Recipients: Auburn First United Methodist Church Christ the King Bible Fellowship Church Domestic Violence Services of Snohomish County El Centro de la Raza – Skate Rink King of Kings Lutheran Preschool Lake Stevens Youth Football Northwest Yeshiva High School Snohomish Community Food Bank Wilderness Awareness School Whidbey Island Waldorf School Organization must be a 501 (c) 3 tax-exempt organization or government entity.

Placement of AED(s) must be located within Washington state . No organization will receive funding in two consecutive years. Typical grant awards range from $1,500 to $10,000, but will not exceed $50,000.

Funding is on a matching basis and the Medic One Foundation may contribute up to 75% of the cost of the requested equipment. The applicant organization must demonstrate the financial capability and commitment to fund the balance of its request. Applications will be reviewed annually and will receive funding in accordance with the policies and financial capabilities of the Medic One Foundation.

Along with providing the AED(s), the Medic One Foundation will also provide CPR/AED training within King County, if requested. This includes training in how to perform hands-only CPR and use the AED. It is the responsibility of AED grant recipient to inspect the AED(s) regularly and ensure appropriate training in AED use for your first responder team members every two years.

It is the responsibility of the AED grant recipient to maintain he device(s) according to the manufacturer’s specifications, including replacing batteries and/or pads. Your organization will be responsible for the maintenance costs and should plan to set aside funds for these expenses. The Medical Direction, Program Management, and Quality Assurance are an ongoing program that is the responsibility of the AED grant recipient.

The grant recipient must register the AED(s) with the county EMS departments AED registry. Law enforcement agencies must work with their local fire districts/departments to ensure the AED device(s) are compatible with fire department devices. We ask that you inform the Medic One Foundation if the AED(s) were used in an emergency.
