How To Apply - Children's Services Fund of Jackson County The Funding Application Process As a voter-approved, tax-funded program, the CSF prioritizes transparency and accountability in decision-making. It's important to note that the CSF operates on a reimbursement model. Partners approved for CSF support submit requests for reimbursement, up to the amount they were awarded.

Step 1: Confirm your eligibility We’re seeking nonprofits and government entities that support kids’ mental health and well-being, as well as strengthen families of children and youth in Jackson County. Eligibility requirements include: Does your organization currently provide services to children ages 19 and under in Jackson County, Missouri?

Is your organization incorporated or authorized to do business in the State of Missouri as a not-for-profit corporation or a government entity? Does your organization require all employees and volunteers to maintain the confidentiality of any information that would identify individuals served by your organization?

Does your organization require that services be provided regardless of an individual’s race, religion, ethnicity, national origin, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, or disabling conditions? Does your organization require that employees and volunteers of the agency who provide direct services be screened as required by state statute?

Does your organization commit to using any funds received from the Children’s Services Fund for only secular, public benefit programs? (State law prohibits the use of public funds in support of religious worship or instruction.) If your organization has not previously received funding from CSF, you will need to register your organization using the FLUXX portal. If your organization is deemed eligible, you will be directed to the Organization Registration page.

All funding decisions are ultimately made by the CSF Board of Directors. The outcome of all funding decisions are communicated to all applicants, regardless of the outcome. Organizations not chosen for funding are encouraged to schedule time with a CSF team member to debrief the process for future success.

Core Funding is central to our mission of enhancing the mental health and emotional well-being of children in Jackson County. It supports a wide range of programs that provide essential services across key areas. Through these investments, we empower local organizations to create lasting, positive change in the lives of children and families.

To promote the mental health and social-emotional well-being of Jackson County kids, we award Core Funding in 10 service areas. Counseling and Assessment Supportive services promote the wellbeing of children and families with psychological evaluations, mental health screenings, therapy, and therapeutic case management.

Short-term acute mental health services that stabilize the child, reduce crisis intensity, connect the family with resources, and help return the child to a pre-crisis state.

Family Support Interventions Home and community-based services that provide integrated support for children and their caregivers, both together and through child-focused approaches that build protective factors, enhance stability, and support the well-being of the whole family. Outpatient Psychiatric Treatment Children receive comprehensive psychiatric services from evaluation and diagnosis to treatment and medication management.

Outpatient Substance Use Treatment Children and families receive outpatient substance use services, including education, early interventions, counseling, treatment, recovery plans, and aftercare support. Services to help children learn coping strategies, strengthen relationships with positive adults and their wider communities, and build life-long social-emotional and personal safety skills.

Provides temporary care for children to offer relief to caregivers, proactively or during periods of crisis or stress, thereby preserving the family unit. Supports for Teen Parents Young parents develop positive parenting skills, receive counseling and behavioral health supports, and receive resources and referrals.

Children experiencing abuse, neglect, houselessness, or other housing barriers can live in a safe, stable environment for up to 30 days with supportive services. Provides safe living arrangements, counseling, and essential support to help older youth and families with children transition to stable housing.

CSF can NOT fund inpatient medical, psychiatric and chemical dependency services, transportation services, capital campaigns, construction and building expenses. We believe it’s important to not only invest in services for children, but also in the organizations that provide those services. Through awards for Capacity Building, we partner with organizations to improve performance through the development and strengthening of skills.
