Community Care Fund Grants

Community Care Fund Grants is sponsored by United Way of North Idaho. The Community Care Fund pools donations to direct toward quality local programs benefiting communities in Benewah, Bonner, Boundary, Kootenai, and Shoshone counties.

Community Care Fund | United Way of North Idaho UWNI's Community Care Fund began in 1957 with a vision of creating maximum impact and achieving long-lasting results within the community. Funds raised throughout the year are granted to quality local programs that benefit communities in the five northern counties of Idaho. Organizations are granted funding through a competitive application process.

No fees are taken from the Community Care Fund and all contributions stay in North Idaho. Grants are awarded for one year and may be used for operational, administrative, staffing, and supply expenses to support the program. Organizations awarded grants must submit an interim six-month progress report and a year-end report on program outcomes.

They also must align with one of the investment priorities. In 2025, we took the time to re-envision and refresh our community care funding process.

While UWNI and the impact councils engage in planning, which includes setting funding levels, making decisions about impact areas to focus on, and what software is used for internal and external grant management processes, a Letter of Interest for UWNI CCF CY2026 was not offered in June 2025. Children do well in school, graduate on time, and are ready to succeed in post-secondary education and a career path. Individuals and families attain financial stability by lowering costs and accessing benefits; individuals attain family-sustaining jobs that offer the opportunity for advancement; individuals have adequate transportation.

Individuals and families lead healthy lives through access to quality medical services including physical, dental, and behavioral health; prevent and respond to family violence, child abuse and neglect, and suicide; encompasses efforts to create healthy systems and environments.
