Being for Others - Grants Building Healthier Communities—Together At the Being for Others (BFO) Health and Wellness Foundation, we believe that improving community health requires partnership, creativity, and shared purpose. Through our grants, we invest in organizations and collaborations working to address the social, economic, and environmental factors that shape health outcomes across Southern Indiana.
To partner with BFO applicants/ projects must: Align with at least one grant pillar Serve residents located within at least one Indiana county in the BFO service region: Crawford, Daviess, Dubois, Martin, Orange, Perry, Pike, and Spencer Be a nonprofit, governmental entity, or a school Not be in competition with programs/services provided by Deaconess Memorial Medical Center: https://www. deaconessmemorial.
com/ Our funding priority pillars are rooted in the Social Determinants of Health (SDOH) — the conditions in which people live, learn, work, and play.
These are reflected in our eight grant pillars: Access to Comprehensive Healthcare Mental Health and Substance Use Support Healthy Living and Chronic Disease Prevention Transportation and Connectivity Early Childhood and Family Support Housing and Economic Stability Social and Civic Engagement Community Safety and Violence Prevention Beginning in 2026, BFO will grant funds across three distinct opportunities.

org for more information. Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement Template Being for Others awards grants to nonprofit organizations, schools, and governmental entities. If your organization does not fall within those guidelines, you may apply with an eligible organization serving as your fiscal sponsor.
When using a fiscal sponsor, a formal agreement between the grant applicant and sponsor will be required. To make things easier, we’ve provided a sample Fiscal Sponsorship Agreement Template you can use when working with a fiscal sponsor. Grant Recipient Resources Grant Period: BFO project grants typically have a one-year grant period for the use of awarded funds.
Grant Reporting: Each grant recipient must submit a grant report within two weeks after the grant period ends. If all funds are expended before the end of the grant period, recipients are strongly encouraged to complete the report within 30 days of project completion. Grant reporting forms are available in our grants portal once the award is issued.
Brand and Logo Use: A BFO logo will be provided during the grant agreement process for use in marketing and promotional materials. For branding guidelines and additional resources, please refer to our Brand Guide . Any public materials related to a BFO award should use the phrase, "a grant from the Being for Others Health and Wellness Foundation."
