The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) program is a federal program administered by the Arizona Department of Housing. The program provides funding to member entities, such as cities and counties, for community development projects within their jurisdiction.
The funds for the program are provided by the Federal Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and distributed to the state of Arizona through the Regional Account (RA) Community Development Block Grants.
In the Arizona counties of Cochise, Graham, Greenlee, and Santa Cruz, the CDBG program can be used to fund a variety of community development projects such as housing rehabilitation, infrastructure improvements, and economic development initiatives. These projects must meet certain criteria set by HUD, such as benefiting low-and moderate-income residents and addressing specific community needs.
Examples of specific projects that may be eligible for funding in these counties include: Repairing or upgrading homes for low-income residents Building or improving community facilities such as parks and libraries Creating or expanding small business development programs Providing services to prevent homelessness or assist homeless families The specific projects that are funded in these counties will be determined through a competitive application process, where member entities submit proposals for consideration by the Arizona Department of Housing and outlined in SEAGO's Method of Distribution (MOD) for the current fiscal year.
