Community Development Block Grant | City of Tampa Community Development Block Grant The Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) Per 24 CFR 570, CDBG funds public service activities provided by outside organizations and have an expenditure cap of 15% of the total annual allocation. CDBG can also fund public facilities, housing rehabilitation, acquisition of real property, housing counseling, relocation, and program administration.

Program administration (including indirect cost allocation) has a 10% expenditure cap per year. Program administration is the record keeping, financing, and preparing of reports, etc. Program delivery is the direct implementation of the programs or services, and does not fall under the 10% cap. CDBG funds may also pay for existing Section 108 loans the City received for previous economic development projects.

org Agency Name: Catholic Charities Program Description: Pathways homeless prevention will be provided to households who are at risk for homelessness with essential support services including rental arrears and utility assistance.

These services will be provided by experienced case managers who will assess client’s needs and connect them to essential support services including mediation and diversion, housing location, legal assistance, and employment services which are necessary to meet their individual needs.

Agency Name: Corporation to Develop Communities of Tampa, Inc. Program Description: CDC of Tampa’s Pre-Apprenticeship Training and Hiring (PATH) program serves eligible City of Tampa residents ages 18 and older. Participants receive industry-recognized construction training, including NCCER and OSHA-10, as well as soft skills and financial literacy instruction, and a choice of Forklift or FDOT Flagger certification.

Upon completion of training, participants are connected with employer partners for on-the-job training, apprenticeships, employment opportunities, and receive light case management support. Website: www. cdcoftampa.

org Agency Name: Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay, Inc. Program Description: Seniors in Service of Tampa Bay’s Senior Companion Services program addresses the critical need to combat loneliness and social isolation among Tampa’s vulnerable seniors by engaging highly trained senior volunteers.

Volunteers provide ongoing, regularly scheduled in-home visits, small-group companionship, and/or telephone reassurance to promote social connection, mental stimulation, and emotional support, enabling seniors to remain living independently and with dignity. Services are provided in client homes, senior housing communities, and senior centers. Website: www.

Housing Counseling agencies provide Housing Counseling services to eligible clients residing or purchasing in the City of Tampa. Households assisted through this program are provided with free homebuyer education workshops at a minimum of eight hours per workshop; with at least one follow up appointment to include budget counseling, credit counseling, pre purchase counseling and post- purchase counseling.

The homebuyer education workshops include an overview of the City’s Mortgage Assistance Program (MAP) and its eligibility requirements, along with the current application, document checklist and any other relevant documentation. Additionally, the workshops include information regarding mortgage options, renting vs. buying and foreclosure prevention.
