Community Forest Program (CFP)

Community Forest Program (CFP) is sponsored by U.S. Forest Service. This program provides competitive grants for financial assistance to local and tribal governments and qualified non-governmental organizations (NGOs) to acquire and establish community forests. These forests must be threatened by conversion to non-forest uses and provide defined community benefits, including wildlife habitat protection.

Grant recipients must provide public access and manage the forest consistent with community purposes.

The Community Forest Program is a competitive grant program that provides financial assistance to tribal entities, local governments, and qualified conservation non-profit organizations to acquire and establish community forests that provide community benefits. Community benefits include economic benefits through active forest management, clean water, wildlife habitat, educational opportunities, and public access for recreation.
