Community Foundation for Northern Virginia 2025 Grants and Scholarships is sponsored by Community Foundation for Northern Virginia. Offers grants to nonprofit organizations addressing needs in areas including arts, education, children & youth development, environment, and more.

Scholarships | The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia Scholarships from the Community Foundation For Students in Northern Virginia and Beyond The Community Foundation for Northern Virginia manages 35 scholarship funds that support Northern Virginia students pursuing undergraduate and graduate degrees. Each year, the Community Foundation awards over $500,000 in scholarship funds to nearly 150 students.

Volunteer committees review and make scholarship award recommendations for the scholarships managed by the Community Foundation. Many of the Scholarship Funds held at the Community Foundation accept donations. Scroll through the list below for more information on each and to make a donation.

The Selection Committee seeks candidates that demonstrate dedication and a positive attitude and who is also a good mentor to younger students. Amin Family Scholarship Fund Provides scholarships to graduating students from Unity Reed High School intending to pursue a degree in healthcare.

Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William AMS Opportunity Scholarship Fund Provides scholarships to graduating high school seniors in Northern Virginia for students interested in continuing their education in the STEM fields. The Anna M. Davison Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors of New Franklin High School in New Franklin, MO, who plan to pursue a degree in nursing.

Barbara Cornwell Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors from Unity Reed High School in Manassas, VA seeking an education beyond high school. Booz Allen Hamilton Vision Scholarship Fund Supports five scholarships per year for four years for legal dependents of Booz Allen Hamilton employees from anywhere around the world. Awards are based on demonstrated superior academic achievement, character, and citizenship activities.

Booz Allen Celebrate Abilities Scholarship Fund Supports students who self-identify as a child of a disabled Booz Allen Hamilton employee, or as a disabled child of a Booz Allen Hamilton employee. Preference will be given to applicants interested in pursuing an education in the STEM fields, and who have a vision to improve the lives of those in the disability community.

Cameron and Virginia Dye Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors from Arlington County Public Schools. Awards are based on community or school activities/service, academic achievement and financial need. Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William Celebrate Cherie Scholarship Fund Supports a Northern Virginia resident pursuing a postgraduate degree in physical therapy.

Charles Homer Barton Scholarship Fund Supports children of police officers in Fairfax and Loudoun Counties. Five scholarships are awarded each year. Denise Dowse Drama Scholarship Fund The Denise Dowse Drama Scholarship Fund honors the memory of Denise “Denny” Yvonne Dowse (W.

T. Woodson HS ’76), a talented Hollywood actor, director, teacher, and mentor. This scholarship benefits the drama and drama technology seniors of Carter G.

Woodson High School (formerly W. T. Woodson High School).

Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Other Dorothy Jean Coates Scholarship Foundation Fund Benefits nontraditional students enrolled in a college or university. Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William Elizabeth Koury Scholarship Fund Supports a graduating high school senior who lives in Northern Virginia, demonstrates academic excellence, financial need and plans to pursue a career in medicine.

Jackson Robert Greene Memorial Athletic Scholarship Fund Supports one female and one male varsity athlete from Herndon High School who could be "counted on" both on and off the field. John Borden Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports Computer Clubhouse members who are graduating seniors from Fairfax County Public Schools with a STEM-related degree objective and a record of giving back to the Community.

John Franklin Hiller Memorial Fund Supports seniors at West Springfield High School who have demonstrated interest, skill and promise in the writing of poetry. The Kathryn Louise Davison Scholarship Fund Supports a graduating senior from Mansfield High School in Mansfield, MA, who plans to major in English/communications or teaching. Kelly Elizabeth Baker Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports a graduating senior who is a member of St.

Mary of Sorrows Catholic Church/Knights of Columbus, Council 8600. Winner is selected based on artistic, scholastic and spiritual development during the student's senior year.

Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Other Leslie Richardson Memorial Swan & Sparrow Scholarship Fund Provides scholarships to benefit students studying musical performance, jazz studies or choral conducting at a historically or predominantly black college or university (HBCU). Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William Leslie V.

Forte Scholarship Fund Supports minority students attending the Northern Virginia Community College. Awards will be made with consideration for academic achievement and demonstrated loyalty to NVCC through involvement in extra-curricular activities. Louise Lightner Jamison Teacher Scholarship Fund Supports high school seniors residing in Prince William County who plan to pursue an undergraduate degree in the field of education.

Michell Merhige Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors attending a Fairfax County public school who have overcome many personal obstacles and plan to pursue a college degree. Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Other Northern Virginia First Responders Scholarship Fund Supports first responders and dependents of active first responders in the Northern Virginia Area by helping to finance their higher education.

Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William NVTC Foundation Kilberg Scholarship Fund Supports women pursuing careers in STEM related fields.

Alexandria, Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun, Prince William, Other Plein Environmental Scholarship Fund Provides scholarships to benefit graduating high school seniors and current NVCC students in need of financial assistance pursuing an associate degree at Northern Virginia Community College and intending to receive admission to a four-year university to pursue a degree in an environmental-related field.

Supports graduating seniors from South Lakes High School in Reston with demonstrated financial need who will be attending accredited two- or four-year degree programs. Reston Scholarship Fund, Dual Enrollment Program The mission of the Reston Scholarship Fund, Dual Enrollment Program is to provide qualified South Lakes High School (SLHS) students with tuition support.

SLHS students who qualify are eligible to apply for tuition support for their Dual Enrollment with SHLS and JMU, in order to earn college credit while they are high school students. Robert Spencer Smith Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports students at Patriot/ Colgan High School who have Special Needs (as documented in an IEP), and preferably those who are pursuing higher education and a career in technology.

Foreman Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors of Fairfax County Public Schools who have overcome significant adversity with priority given to those who have experienced homelessness, were in foster care and/or lacked substantial family support during their high school careers.

Woody Marshall Memorial Scholarship Fund Supports graduating seniors at Brentsville District High School to continue their education and honor, through poetry, someone who deeply impacted their lives. Yuthud Oberdick Scholarship Fund Supports a graduating senior at Chantilly High School who demonstrates enthusiasm for learning, resiliency, integrity and love of social studies.
