UNC Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center Community Outreach and Engagement Community Grant Funding Program The COE Office created the Lineberger Community Grant Funding Program to join with the community as allies to improve cancer outcomes in the state of North Carolina. The COE Office will fund 3-4 awards, depending on the scale and scope of submissions. The funding period is a year (November 2025 – October 2026).
Two tiers of funding are available: Tier 1 – Planning Awards (up to $10,000) Designed for organizations in the early stage of developing a plan to improve cancer screening. Funded projects must be completed within a 12-month period. Proposed activities should include: Engaging community, healthcare, and research partners and other stakeholders to address cancer screening needs.
Collecting and analyzing data to assess cancer screening needs and available resources. Selecting and adapting one or more appropriate screening evidence-based interventions. Developing a detailed implementation plan.
Tier 2: Implementation Awards (up to $20,000) Designed for organizations that are ready to implement evidence-based cancer screening interventions. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to, primary care practices, public health departments, free clinics, pharmacies, mobile vans, and dental clinics.
Applicants must demonstrate prior planning and a clear selection of one or more evidence-based cancer screening interventions suited to their population and setting. Proposed activities should include, but are not limited to: Piloting an evidence-based cancer screening intervention that you have adapted to fit the needs of your community and organization.
Collecting and analyzing data to evaluate program implementation and screening outcomes. The Community Grant Funding Program supports organizations working to improve access to cancer screening in North Carolina. Eligible applicants include, but are not limited to: Community health centers and safety-net clinics.
Free clinics, pharmacies, mobile vans, and dental clinics. Tribal, faith-based, and community-based nonprofit organizations. Be in or serve communities in North Carolina.
Specify a program director with experience and dedicated time for project oversight. Commit to using data to guide program planning and implementation. Include a plan for evaluating progress.
Academic entities are not eligible to apply. This funding opportunity is focused on community capacity building, not academic research. The group must identify someone who is willing to commit effort to oversee implementation of their proposed program.
