Update as of December 15, 2026 Application Portal for 2026 Charitable Requests is Now Open The M&T Charitable Foundation and M&T Bank are now accepting applications for 2026 programmatic grant support and event sponsorship. Note: Please allow at least 8 weeks for a turnaround time on the decision to allow adequate time for the request to be processed.

Community Sponsorships enable us to partner with nonprofit organizations to improve the quality of life in the regions we operate. Our goal is to make meaningful community-based contributions and to work closely with the organizations we support beyond a financial commitment.

Community Sponsorship Eligibility Guidelines To be considered for sponsorship from M&T Bank, organizations must meet the following minimum eligibility requirements: Organizations with a 501(c)3 nonprofit tax exempt status Must operate or serve individuals within the cities/towns where M&T Bank conducts business If you have a request that falls under these categories, please be in touch with your local bank representative.

Ineligible for Funding through Community Sponsorship Program: Scholarships directly to individuals Religious organizations for non-secular purposes Political organizations and political campaigns Religious organizations for non-secular purposes Organizations that discriminate If you have a request for any of the following categories, please be in touch with your local bank representative for further guidance: Rotary Clubs, Chamber of Commerce organizations and various associations Conferences and Seminars Sponsorship applications are accepted on a rolling basis.

Applications should be submitted at a minimum of 8 weeks before a decision is needed. Strengthening our communities While financial support is often critical, it is the participation of the bank’s employees that leads to the most successful outcomes. M&T brings the power of the entire bank to the communities it serves. What is the difference between a grant and a sponsorship?

Grants fund on-going, long-term initiatives, programs, or projects that will specifically impact and improve one or more outcome. All grant funds go to program support and M&T Bank cannot benefit in any way from the donation. Sponsorships offer mutually beneficial partnerships in support of the bank's goals and marketing objectives.

They offer broad reach across markets and states and provide a wide range of tangible benefits. When should I submit my request for a Grant or Community Sponsorship? M&T accepts requests year-round.

However, we ask that you submit your request a minimum of 8 weeks prior to the date you need a decision, to allow adequate time for the request to be reviewed. When can I expect to receive a response to my request? A decision will be made on all community sponsorship requests within 8 weeks of the date your organization indicated you need a decision by.

Requestors will be notified via email. Who should I contact if my organizations needs volunteers for an event or project? M&T Bank has a very active volunteer program.

If you have a volunteer request, please contact your local program officer . Do you accept requests via email or mail? No, all requests for funding are required to be submitted via the online application.

This allows us to streamline the review process and enables us to provide organizations with a faster response.
