Community Grant Opportunities | South Boston Associa Grant opportunities become available at different times throughout the year from local foundations, city agencies and state departments. SBANP will notify members and share information as often as possible. We will, at times, invite funders to our membership meetings to provide information and answer questions.

Listed below are annual grants that many of our member organizations are eligible to apply for: South Boston Community Development Foundation The South Boston Community Development Foundation (SBCDF) is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization with a mission to distribute funds throughout the South Boston community to improve the quality of life of neighborhood residents.
The SBCDF will offer grants to organizations which maintain a continuing mission to benefit South Boston and its residents, and which are also legally incorporated as 501(c)3 nonprofit charities. Grants will be awarded to organizations that comply with all submission procedures and granted on the basis of available funds. Grant applications will be reviewed and voted on by the members of the SBCDF Board.
For more information, contact The South Boston Foundation was formed in 2018 to administer grants though a commitment from the Massachusetts Port Authority to provide funding for youth programs and recreational facilities in or benefiting the South Boston community. Grant applications are made available on an annual basis and reviewed by the South Boston Foundation Board of Trustees.
Grant Awardees must be legally incorporated as a 501c3, a nonprofit organization or recognized with the Massachusetts Attorney General’s office as a nonprofit/public charity or have formal memorandum of agreement with an eligible fiscal sponsor. Visit the South Boston Foundation website to apply.

On March 24, 2005, the Gillette Company provided a three year grant, totaling $525,000, to help address the drug problem in South Boston. Procter and Gamble/Gillette renewed the grant again in 2007 and 2011, for a total commitment of $1,550,000.
In 2013, P&G/Gillette renewed this grant for $400,000. In 2019, P&G/Gillette committed to two years of funding at $125,000 per year. This year, P&G Gillette has committed a 2-year grant of $250,000 for 2024 and 2025 to support substance-abuse treatment and prevention programs in South Boston.
The South Boston Association of Non-Profits has created a structure and process that will fairly and equitably distribute the funds to the South Boston community to provide the biggest impact. The process is designed to be thorough, fair and transparent. Grant readers will review and assess grant applications.
Funding is available to support substance abuse treatment and prevention programs in South Boston. Funds cannot be used for costs incurred prior to an award letter/contract being issued. Agencies and organizations located in South Boston and serving South Boston residents are eligible to apply and must meet each of the following criteria: Be a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization (copy of tax-exempt certificate must be provided).
Providers of service who are not 501(c)(3) organizations may collaborate with nonprofit organizations as the fiscal/administrative agent. Signed Memorandum of Agreements are required. Demonstrate evidence of insurance prior to award of funds.
The Certificate of Insurance is not required at the time of application. Be a member of the South Boston Association of Non-Profits ($200 fee paid in full). If the agency received a FY20-22 Gillette Great Starts Grant, a Final Report must be submitted with this grant application in order to be eligible for Year 2024 funding.
