html\">ongoing investments and community health initiatives</a>, we are not only providing the best clinical care for our patients, but also fostering strong, sustainable relationships with local organizations to address those social factors that have the most significant impact on health — stable housing, nutritious food, educational and employment opportunities, and more.

</p>\r\n<p>One way that we invest in these community-identified health needs is through the Massachusetts Department of Public Health’s <a href=\"https://www. massgeneral. org/community-health/cchi/regulation-and-community-benefit/overview-of-determination-of-need\" target=\"_blank\">Determination of Need (DoN)</a> process.

When one of our healthcare facilities makes a significant capital investment, 5% of those funds are reinvested in the communities we serve. These dollars are known as Community Health Impact Funds (CHIF).

</p>\r\n<p>The Community Advisory Board (CAB) — a group of community leaders with varied professional and life experiences — determines the priorities and strategies for how these funds are used, guided by the most recent community health needs assessment. Once the CAB sets funding priorities, an allocation committee oversees the distribution of the funds.
