The Heart of Illinois United Way is the largest non-governmental investor in local health and human care programs in central Illinois, our United Way serves Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Marshall, Stark and Putnam counties. The Heart of Illinois United Way invests in programs and initiatives addressing the most critical education, financial stability and health needs of central Illinois.

Make a charitable gift to the Heart of Illinois United Way’s Community Impact Fund to improve the education, financial stability and health of people in central Illinois. The Heart of Illinois United Way funds more than 80 Programs focusing on these key issues: The Heart of Illinois United Way‘s Community Impact Fund is the shortest distance between your charitable contribution and a stronger, safer and healthier community.
When you choose to give to the United Way, your gift impacts lives throughout central Illinois. Quality education helps youth and adults achieve their full potential; key programs include pre-k literacy, tutoring, mentoring, special education, college and career counseling, and adult literacy.
Financial stability promotes independence; key programs include basic human needs such as food, shelter and clothing, legal support, employment assistance and life-skills education. Prevention, intervention and education lead to health and wellness; key programs include community clinics, physical fitness, nutrition counseling, dental and vision care, and therapy.
Heart of Illinois United Way Community Assessment The primary focus of the Heart of Illinois United Way Community Assessment is to improve the organization’s effectiveness in identifying, assessing, and supporting key areas of social concern related to the education, financial stability, and health of all people in central Illinois.

Funding is awarded based on need, the availability of funds and evaluation/measurement of the community outcomes achieved by the program(s).

Heart of Illinois United Way Grant and Reporting System Nonprofit agencies have to be approved as a partner agency by Heart of Illinois United Way’s Board of Directors before they are allowed to compete for grants and access our electronic system. Please see the application process below. If you are a current partner agency and need to obtain a Web User ID or need additional information about grants.

Nonprofit agencies have to be an approved Heart of Illinois United Way agency before they are allowed to compete for grants. By reviewing the guidelines (above), you can learn how your nonprofit will be reviewed. Please note: Applications for new partner agency status can be submitted between January through October of each year.
