The Community Foundation offers competitive Community Fund grants on an annual basis to organizations serving the Lake Tahoe Basin in our five programmatic areas.

These grants allow nonprofit organizations to request the support they need to better serve the Tahoe Region.

The Community Foundation’s five programmatic areas include: Arts, Culture and Heritage: arts education, historical preservation and a rich cultural experience Well-Being: enhanced quality of life through improved access to health care, critical services, food, housing and recreation Community Engagement: dynamic partnerships, civic initiatives, and faith-based causes Education and Youth Development: quality educational, training and mentoring opportunities for youth and adults Environment: environmental sustainability, healthy ecosystems and wildlife WHEN: The annual Community Fund Grant Cycle opens for application in Spring each year.

The Tahoe Community Foundation invites proposals for its 2025 Community Impact Grant Cycle.

Eligibility Requirements: Be recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization that has held its tax-exempt status for two years or more ; 501 (c)(3) public charity or school in good standing Be incorporated in Nevada or California; in good standing with respective state Directly provide more than 50% of services in the Tahoe Basin Grants are not award for the following uses: Direct religious activity, political lobbying activities or other political purposes Sponsoring special events (i.e. fundraising, dinners, etc) Nonprofits for their grantmaking (pass through funding) Activities that have already occurred/reimbursing prior expenses Submission Deadline: Complete proposal narrative, cover page, and attachments must be submitted via upload to website by 4:00pm on Friday, May 30 .

Action Grants are small grants that are intended to pay for one-time expenses or materials for organizations/programs serving the Lake Tahoe Basin. Grants are expected to range between $2,500 to $5,000. Organizations may only receive one Action Grant once per calendar year- Action Grant awards will not disqualify organizations from receiving Community Impact Grants.

Action Grants cannot be used to reimburse prior expenses. Grants will be reviewed and decided on by the Community Foundation’s Community Impact Committee and awarded quarterly. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis- to be considered at the next Committee meeting, please ensure that your application is submitted by the next listed due date.

2025 Due Dates: February 28, 2025; May 31, 2025; August 31, 2025; November 30, 2025 Awards are expected to be announced within 30 days of the close of each cycle (due date). Each year, the Lahontan Community Foundation brings the community together, to have fun and raise money to support the efforts of local non-profit organizations and community programs making a difference in the Truckee and North Tahoe Region. The Lahontan Community Foundation Fund will award grants to non-profit organizations working toward the betterment of our community.

To apply for a grant from Lahontan Community Foundation Fund, the following eligibility requirements must be met: Be recognized by the IRS as a tax-exempt organization that has held its tax-exempt status for two years or more; 501(c)(3) public charity, government agency, school and/or faith-based organization in good standing Be incorporated in California or Nevada; in good standing with the respective state Directly serve the Truckee-North Tahoe Region in one of the following program areas: Arts, Culture and Civic Life Education and Youth Development Environment, Recreation, and Animal Welfare Health and Human Services Applications for direct religious activities; political activism such as lobbying, legislative activities, or legal action; organizations that discriminate based on race, color, creed, age, sex, sexual orientation, or national origin will not be considered.

Reynolds Community Nonprofit Center (DWR Center) is to provide an economical and collaborative environment for nonprofit organizations. Since 2002, the Tahoe Community Foundation has operated the DWR Center as an innovative grant program providing nonprofit organizations with furnished office space, secure storage space and access to professional meeting rooms and event space.

These grants are awarded to nonprofit, public charities and are annually renewable. WHEN: All DWR Center Grants are open for application at any time throughout the year. All DWR Center Grants terminate on December 31st each year and are open for renewal annually.

DWR Center Resident Grants The DWR Center Resident Grant presents an excellent opportunity for an organization to leverage generous operational support provided in the professional and secure DWR Center, allowing staff to focus their efforts on offering quality programs and services and sharing their passion with the community.

Organizations applying for a DWR Center Resident Grant must meet the following criteria: Be recognized by the IRS as a tax exempt, 501(c)3 organization that has held its tax-exempt status for two years or more Be incorporated in, and in good standing with, the state of Nevada (or if incorporated in another state registered as a foreign entity, and in good standing, with the state of Nevada) Provide quality services and programs to the Incline Village, Crystal Bay, and Kings Beach community Actively participate in collaborative programs and services Have at least one paid staff member that will utilize the DWR Center Resident Office Space Demonstrate good governance practices and organizational sustainability Demonstrated capacity to meet the DWR Center Resident Grant Match requirement If your organization meets the above applicant criteria and you are interested in applying for a DWR Center Resident Grant, please contact our Program Director for more information.

The Community Foundation uses an accredited online payment processing vendor (Stripe) that transfers credit card information only to its secure server using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) encryption technology.

The Community Foundation does not have access to donor credit card information or account data sent to the online payment processing vendor.
