Addressing Critical Gaps in Healthcare Supporting organizations that break down barriers between vulnerable community members and critical care. Investing in nonprofits that address insurance barriers, provider shortages, and gaps in mental health treatment.

Funding nonprofits that are working to make nutritious food accessible and affordable. Supporting organizations that develop programming to address the clinical worker shortage. We give priority to faith-based programs meeting needs in these four key areas of greatest need, but funds are not limited to these qualifications.

Eligible applicants are 501(c)(3) nonprofits operating in communities served by Baptist Health hospitals in Alabama. Your organization's work should address a healthcare-related need, including but not limited to access to care, health education, disease prevention, recovery support, or care coordination.

Faith based programs are given priority, but it is not a requirement. What types of programs do you fund? We fund programs that fill measurable gaps in community healthcare.

This includes mobile health clinics, patient navigation services, health literacy initiatives, recovery support programs, and mental health outreach, among others. We do not fund capital campaigns, endowments, or programs outside our service area. How large are the grants?

Grant amounts vary based on program scope and available funding each cycle. We encourage applicants to request what is genuinely needed to accomplish clearly defined program goals. Requests should be specific and tied to measurable outcomes.

When is the application deadline, and how often do you award grants? Baptist Health Foundation awards community grants on an annual cycle. Application windows are announced each year and communicated through our website and partner network.

Previous grant recipients in good standing are welcome to apply in subsequent cycles. If your organization received funding in a prior year, you will be asked to provide a brief summary of how those funds were used and what outcomes were achieved before a new application is considered. Applications are reviewed by the Baptist Health Foundation grants committee following the close of the application window. You may be contacted for additional information or a brief follow-up conversation. All applicants will be notified of the committee's decision by the date communicated at the time of submission.
