PROFILE: Established in 1993, the Community Foundation of Mendocino County (CFMC) is a community foundation based in Ukiah, California. CFMC administers permanent charitable funds through gifts from families, individuals and businesses.
The foundation aims to “offer people effective ways to engage in advancing the well-being of our communities. ” It funds local efforts for education, the arts, community health, alleviation of poverty, youth, environment and other community needs. Grants for Community Development The Community Foundation of Mendocino County funds a wide variety of local causes and nonprofits in the region.
CFMC has an annual grantmaking process that includes around two dozen Grant Programs that are open to new applications. Some of these are: The Angel Fund provides for the short-term needs of families, children and the elderly. The Community Enrichment Grant Program funds community-based projects.
The Community Resiliency and Disaster Preparedness Fund helps prepare residents for disasters. The Save-the-Day Grant Program responds to urgent needs, and community support grants and endorsements support public events and educational opportunities.
