DR24 Single-Family Home Repair Program A new recovery resource is coming to Houston. The City of Houston Housing and Community Development Department will launch the DR24 Single-Family Home Repair Program to help eligible homeowners repair or rebuild primary residences damaged by the May 2024 Derecho or Hurricane Beryl. Assistance may include up to $100,000 for home repairs or up to $300,000 for full reconstruction.

While initial priority will be given to seniors, persons with disabilities, and disabled veterans, all impacted residents with household incomes at or below 80% of the Area Median Income (AMI) are encouraged to apply. 2026 CDBG Multifamily Rehab NOFA Transforming Multifamily Properties Through Rehabilitation and Investment. A $15 million investment to preserve and strengthen multifamily housing in Houston!

This funding will support the rehabilitation of existing multifamily properties or the acquisition of existing multifamily properties that will undergo rehabilitation.

At 88 years old, Alton Ford lived in the same home for more than 50 years.

When aging conditions made upkeep increasingly difficult, what began as a request for help with one room quickly evolved into something far greater. After years of working with HCD, multiple inspections revealed the home could not be safely repaired. What followed was an unexpected decision that changed everything, demolish and rebuild the home on the same property.

Connect Highstar is in the Gulfton neighborhood. The City contributed $11.

One amenity of note is the Fabric Forge, a textile lab that employs residents with an ethical wage to help sew and create materials from clothing to fabric backdrops.
